My ortho estimates 18-24 months. 24 if extractions are necessary, 18 months otherwise. He says I might be able to get away with no extractions though, so I'm really hoping for 18 months!

OK, so here is a photo of the way my teeth look before braces. Not an extreme case, but clearly I can benefit from having braces. The main issue is the crowding on the lower front teeth.

On another (old) thread someone mentioned that their lips looked a lot bigger after getting braces. I hope that doesn't become too noticeable since I already have BIG lips!!!

If there is one change in appearance that would make me self-conscious it would be even bigger lips.

Hi LaaLaa. I'm glad I found this site, otherwise I really would think I was the only person in their twenties with braces!

Karen... you mentioned a salt water rinse. What exactly does it do? Does that soothe your gums? I usually stay away from salt and so I find your tip puzzling.
