New archwire... yay! Marker right smack in the middle...boo!

Hey everyone... I went to my ortho for my 3rd visit since being braced and he changed my archwire to a thicker gage which is great but the wire has this marker right in the middle (I suppose it's there for positioning) of my 2 front teeth which wears away with time but I have this dinner party with ...

I got in touch the coordinator ortho office. And she said that switching coverage mid-stream not unheard of but of course depends on the coverage. She said that some insurance companies consider this pre-existing since I am already bonded. So when I find out my coverage details I will know for sure....

Insurance question

Does anyone know if insurance companies will cover ortho in mid-treatment? I found out that I am able to get coverage thru my boyfriends company and although I do not know what the coverage is I imagine it is better than my current coverage (HMO vs. PPO). Just wondering if anyone had any experience ...

Well, I had my "adjustment". He didn't change the archwire b/c he said that my teeth hadn't moved enough yet. He also said to come back in 2 months... I hope my treatment doesn't get prolonged. Funny b/c I was told that these type of braces move faster and treat faster... now I am told tha...

1st adjustment today! lig opinions?

Well... its been a little over a month since i have been braced and let me tell you I can't be more excited to get my ligs changed! I was very good in the beginning but then started back up with my coffee in the morning, some other staining food and managed to YELLOW up my clear ligs beyond belief. ...

Care Credit - Update

As promised, I am giving an update on my Care Credit situation with my ortho: Just like I suspected... I AM able to use the care credit account just like a credit card and do not have to charge my entire $3800 balance on the care credit account. (They were telling me that with care credit, I'd have ...

The treatment coordinator said that she will call to see if Care Credit will increase my credit line - but who knows if they will. The office is closed today, so I will have to wait until next week to see what is going on. Oh well.

I realize that they have those promo rates - I used to work at a place that took care credit - but my limit on the account is only $2000 - the ortho wants a $1000 down payment which i was going to put on the care credit but now they say I need to put the entire balance on it if I am going to use car...

Anyone familiar with Care Credit?

I am going to use Care Credit for my down payment (although I have been braced for 2 weeks, they weren't set up for care credit yet for my down payment - they told me that it will be ok to wait until they get the care credit terminal set up). Today, I called the ortho to make my payment. They told m...

Congrats on the baby boy! You must be very excited!

my advice to you (when you get your molds done for the retainers) is to just relax. I know it's an annoying feeling but just make sure your nose isnt stuffy so that you can breathe thru it and relax.

Yes... "snaps shut" would be the perfect way to describe this!
I am relieved to hear that I am not the only one. I am definitely going to mention this to my ortho on my next visit but that's not for 3 weeks (and from working in a doctors office most of my life, this isn't an emergency - lol)

weird bite involuntary reflex

Hey everyone... I have been braced for 2 weeks (tomorrow) and have noticed this weird bite thing going on. I notice out of nowhere when I have my jaw relaxed it will close shut involuntarily. Sometimes I even bite my tongue in the process. Am I going nuts? Has anyone heard of this? Crystal p.s. - my...

Thanks Meryaten so much for kind words. Yes that pic is correct - I guess the "cleats" are on the inside of my jaw and I am aware of them. If by the next visit (May 30th) they still bother me, I will say something.
