Well, give it a few days or weeks and see how it goes. It's a big adjustment. Anything on your teeth is going to look bigger than you thought it would- pictures are very deceiving, and the sales sites are going to present their brackets in as flattering a view as possible. The metals are definitely ...

What's this lower wire thingie called?
I have a wire on the inside of my lower arch. I assume it it to push my left side out- the molars there are pushed in toward the inside of my mouth. It was a bear to fit as the left molar it attaches to is twisted. I think it will also push my crooked front tooth out, as it presses on that tooth. Ju...

Hey, now I know what that thing in the roof of my mouth is called. A TPA. It isn't so bad- I'd take that over headgear. My kids have headgear. I've gotten used to eating and all with it- can get messy, but not that bad. I do notice molar movement, esp on the left side. It seems to hurt up under my e...

Thanks! I have been taking pictures and after my last (1st) adjustment I looked but couldn't see any changes. I was not all that surprised, as I have only 3 teeth actively being worked on, but all the same! I did note that you have to take the pics of the inside view from exactly the same angle- alm...

I think I see some progress!
I see by my ticker that it has been 2 months since I got my upper archwire installed. I was feeling rather sorry to think I had had no visible progress since. I can tell when I floss that my teeth are moving, as the flossing is easier in some places and harder in others. I also have only 3 teeth wit...

Well, yes, brackets are bad for getting food caught, but try wires on the top and bottom of the inside of your mouth and NOW lettuce is a challenge! I still eat it daily but I have to have water for swishing, and it gets hugely stuck in the top wire on the roof of my mouth. Come to think of it, pret...

I'm a teacher too- it's been a total non-issue. Today I had to talk for an entire class, so I apologized to the students in advance for my slighty fuzzy speech, and nobody batted an eye. Many of them have braces or recently had them, or are going to get them, so they don't think about it at all. I h...

Don't worry about it. I got spacers and metal bands a month ago and what hurt was the difficulty they had fitting the metal bands- my molars are wonky, and they had to fiddle quite a bit, so the pressure on my front teeth from peoples' hands in my mouth made them hurt like I had had the archwires pu...

I'm considering going metal on the bottom instead of ceramic as planned- The ortho is pulling my uppers forward to make room for the lower brackets so I don't bite them off. I am going to ask next visit (in 2 weeks) if using the smaller metals will speed things up a bit and be more comfortable. As I...

Most of the pics that get put on display are of the whole wedding party from a distance, so why worry? Any closeups will probably stay in the wedding album anyway, and when was the last time you pulled yours out? I'd leave 'em on- $450 is an awful lot and you'll have a lot of expenses associat...

Once the baby is born time will absolutely FLY, so don't let it get you down now. I was sick for 5-6 moths with both pregnancies- it is super YUCK. Good luck getting it over with soon. The twins were the worst, of course. But after they were born I had no time to worry about my teeth! Your bigger pr...
