Just keep at it
Hi Haven't been around awhile, but I saw this and wanted to say that there were times I looked like a horse, but now I have gorgeous teeth, and when I look at the photos I took at the beginning, I am thrilled. I get my braces off tomorrow, and it was well worth all the time and trouble. Don't quit 1...

I find it hard too...
I find spitting hard too- and drinking from a straw, blowing on hot soup, and anything that requires me to pucker my lips. It's all that STUFF glued to them! I am so glad I don't play a wind instrument. With four of us in braces, we now keep a dispenser of dixie cups in the bathroom for after ...

older means straighter longer...
I am 46 and not too old for anything, either! I see it this way- when you are very young and you have ortho treatment, your teeth have that much more time to shift as you get older, and there are several people on this board having their 2nd time around. I'm already pretty far along, so I figure I'l...

could it be a wire lig?
Sometimes they use wires instead of coloured elastics at the back when I have adjustments. The wire blends in with all that metal.

i hate hate hate those little things...
I have little tiny tubes to attach my lower appliance. For the couple of months before I got the appliance but had the molar bands on, it was awful. I used wax like there was no tomorrow, my tongue was cut up all the time and when I FINALLY got toughened up they put in the appliance. That was annoyi...

I'm a high school teacher, and I got my braces last spring. I have had nothing but positive comments from staff and students. The kids think it's cool- I got school colours for my ligs this past month. We compare progress and admire the results of those who have finished treatment. The only problem ...

Thanks! I have been dutifully chewing and not changing my diet beyond cutting things into small pieces (ever eat sausage on a bun with a knife and fork? ) and eating a lot of yogurt. My teeth are feeling much better, although still sore, and I am getting used to the new positions on my molars....

3rd adjustment, lots of progress
Had my 3rd adjustment today. I have seen a lot of movement since the last one- none of it flattering. My front teeth have been pulled forward to accomodate lower brackets (those will go on when my lower molar is straight). Until now I only had three front teeth attached to the wire, tonight I have a...

ooooowwww, I can relate! I have a wire thingy in the bottom arch, on the inside. When I first got my molar bands, the little tubes for attaching that thing on the inside part of the molar bands were like tiny little razors making mincemeat of my tongue. OUCH!! I lived for wax. I went through TONS of...

arrghh, me too. I knew my ortho had to move my front teeth out in order to put brackets on the bottom (so I don't bite them off) but the movement I've had in the last 2 weeks has me looking more like my horse every day. He's cute and all, but he's a HORSE. My front teeth have moved out and apart, an...

Whether they suck or not isn't he issue- as has been said, not many people love to wear their braces. Most are used to it and it isn't a big deal. BUT... as has also been said- it is soooo worth it to have great teeth, for both looks and health. You have to look at the end result and focus on that. ...

Yeah, progress is good! I am better today, although biting into things is still rather painful. It was a good thing I ate my sandwich without company today- not a pretty sight trying to wedge it around to bite with my molars and ending up tearing it- not pretty at all. But better proress than pretty...

another adjustment- ouch!
Sigh. At least I know they're moving! Went to the ortho for another adjustment yesterday- he said he was going to "juice it up" and he sure did. Boy do those teeth hurt today! He put some more oomph into my lower appliance (it is for turing my twisted molar and expanding my arch) and those...
