I think if you ask your ortho if you could bring your Ipod, s/he would be fine with it. Maybe if you took it out of nowhere without telling him/her first, it would be weird. However, I really think your ortho would be glad to let you do anything that makes you feel more comfortable. Good luck!

My husband is really sweet and supportive. I don't have braces yet, but he says that he will go with me when I get them on, and he thinks I will look cute with braces. I love him.

Dr. Rick,

What is the thing that you place on the back of the upper front teeth to stop grinding? Can you post a picture of what it looks like? Is it glued on or removable, and does it affect your speech? Thanks!

Dr. Rick, What do you mean by a splinted retainer? Is that like a splint for grinding at night? I am asking because I have one now for grinding, but when I get a retainer, is it possible to get one for nighttime that also acts as a retainer, and a different one for the day? I don't have braces yet, ...

That is very cute that your wife is so supportive. My husband is very sweet and supportive too. It really helps. Maybe you will get a color next time. I want to try pink after a few times. I don't have braces yet, but I will hopefully be getting them soon. Just think, in the end, it will be worth it!

Thank you, Meryaten! I will ask. It's good to know that the night guard after braces can double up as a night time retainer. Thanks for your help.

Bite Turbos and Night Guard

I have a question about bite turbos. I grind at night and I wear a custom night guard. When I get braces, I will have to get bite turbos to open up my deep bite. Does anyone know if they are able to make a custom night guard to go over braces and bite turbos, or if it's better to wear a store bought...

Beth, Thank you very much! I looked at Dr. Pistolas's website, but it says that he only specializes in pediatrics including functional orthodontics. Does he treat adults as well? I am actually originally from Bergen County. I used to live in Rochelle Park, and I still go there a lot to visit friends...

Hi Beth! I was just reading another post where you said you are from NJ. I am too! I am in Northern NJ (Sussex County). Where in NJ are you? It's great to hear that your consult went so well. If you feel comfortable, do you think you could tell me who your/where your Ortho is? I would love to set up...

clear lig question

hi everyone, I was wondering if clear and white ligs get stained if you eat chocolate, or hot chocolate, or even cereal that turns the milk chocolate. Also, I wonder if you put on one of those brace comfort covers before you eat or drink something that stains, if it wouldn't stain. Has anyone tried ...
