Meryaten,

I'd be more than satisfied if the front incisors are like ||
At the moment it's \\ which throws the midline way off.
It's ok if the tops dont exactly line up with the bottoms, lol!

Meryaten, Thanks for the advice. I hope the mid-line alignment issue is as important to the ortho as other issues. The highlight of the smile is more on the misalignment than overcrowding/protrusion. If misalignment is still there, the job is just 50% done. I think most posters who said they have th...

KK,

Thanks for the responses.
The top front incisors are clearly off the vertical, thus highlighting the off-center issue.
When I see a pic of myself smiling, it was quite a shock lol !
It wasn't like this 3 years ago. I guess teeth move all the time.

Thanks for all the replies.

My mid-lines are definitely off. I'm just curious what will be used to straighten it. I'm interested in the mechanics of it.
Three more weeks to the next appointment, when I'll check with the dentist on this.

center line correction

So far, I've seen cases where the ortho treatment moves the teeth perpendicular to the gum line, meaning the teeth move in or out of the mouth. I was wondering if the teeth can be moved along the gum line. My center line is off a lot, like 10 degrees off the vertical. I just started the treatment 3 ...

bracegirl,

There're posts in this forum that says a tooth will move around 1mm a month.
For a 10mm gap, there should be no obvious gap in a year. Of course every case is different.

In cases where there's just not enough space to go around, short of expanding the jaw, there really is no way to fit all the teeth nicely without extraction. I had 4 bi's extracted too. My teeth were quite crowded one of the bi's was wedged in so tight, it broke during extraction. The dentist had to...

Thanks everyone for their reply.

KK, the waterpik idea sure looks great.
But is it a good idea to squirt jets of water around the gums? I think I read somewhere that the pressured water might push debris into the gum?
What's the others' opinions on waterpik?

Thanks,
Bob

brushing & braces

Hi, I just started wearing braces last week. Been OK so far, no pain. But found myself eating like a baby (need to cut food up to tiny pieces & chew slowly) I also realized that my teeth are now living in 'dangerous times', since food is so easily trapped anywhere in the mouth. Can anyone recomm...
