Ruby Tuesday, so good to know there is someone else out there! I get the labial lowers bonded in about a week, so I'll let you know how it goes. Did you initially only have the linguals or did you have the labials from the beginning? Is it the same deal with labials - about a week of discomfort and ...

Nope, not for elastics. I had four ceramic buttons placed on the outside of my back lowar molars for elastics several months back. Now he says he needs actual braces on the outside of my entire lower arch, wires and all, because apparently he needs to get pressure on my teeth coming from that direct...

I'm depressed

So I had an appointment with my ortho last week. I was expecting him to do a little adjusting/refining and then tell me he'd see me in a month to get them off (my original estimate for treatment time). Well, no such luck. Instead he told me he needs to put brackets on the outside of my lower teeth. ...

Hi there, and welcome. I also have an underbite. It sounds a bit like Lionfish's underbite - I could just barely make contact with my top and bottom front teeth when I first started. Apparently my bottom arch is slightly overdeveloped and top arch is slightly underdeveloped. It's been about 5 months...

Chupche, I don't think you'll regret it once you get through the first couple of weeks. I'm in my third week and I am feeling so much better than first week. I am beginning to conquer the speech problem by, as BlahBlah said, learning to say certain words a little differently. I still have trouble wi...

The speech issues are definitely noticeable for the first couple of weeks. I shared the same frustration you expressed - I wanted my braces to be invisible but yet I had to explain myself to some people who noticed my speech problem. The difference though is that if you tell someone you have braces ...

Yup, at least that's what they told me. I had braces when I was young, about 12, and my teeth stayed very straight but my bottom jaw grew too much and my top jaw did not grow quite enough. I dreaded consulting an orth for so long because I thought my only option would be surgery. My ortho said he ca...

7 days in - is this normal???

So I'm on my 7th day of upper and lower iBraces. It's been OK so far. My tongue isn't as hacked up as I expected it would be. My teeth are still tender and I'm still eating soft foods. I'm definitely lisping quite a bit. What's bothering me the most right now, however, is my gums. The lower inside o...

I was scared at first too about getting the top and bottom linguals the same day. It seems most people on this board have a significant wait inbetween. Right now I'm on day 4 and doing O.K. I really don't think it would have been much more comfortable if I had only done one arch. I'm actually glad t...

Welcome Sonja. I just got upper and lower ibraces bonded yesterday. Right now I can't really bite down. Like Lionfish said, I get the food directly to my molars, slosh it around a little bit, and then swallow. Just liquids and soft foods for now and I imagine this will last the first couple of weeks...

Thanks BlahBlah and Lionfish! I've already ordered and paid for the upper and lower linguals so I might as well go through with it. I'm a little nervous because I'm getting them both bonded on the same day (at least I haven't been told otherwise). I'm sure the first couple of weeks will be tough and...

Ceramic or lingual lowers - which is better?

I am scheduled to get both upper and lower linguals next week. It seems that a lot of you opted to go with lower ceramics and upper linguals. I wonder if that's a better option? Do you think it might help to alleviate some of the tongue pain and discomfort if the linguals are only on one arch? I'd l...

Next week I will be one of you!

I am getting my iBraces bonded next Friday (upper and lower). Although I'm already preparing for the worst based on a lot of postings I've read here, can anyone give me the lowdown on what I should expect for the first few weeks? I'm scared!
