I remember my boyfriend ccame to take care of me the week after jaw surgery and I kept kissing him on the cheek and hating it. That was the worst part cause I didn't feel a thing! I'm almost five months post op and I have a lot more feeling now and it's not as bad (we haven't kissed on the lips yet,...

I know everyone with misaligned jaws has it bad, but I think us underbiters are the most unfortunate.... I agree! Underbites are much more noticeable! I know it's hard because they always have to make things worse before they make them better. :( I had an overbite and by the time I was ready for su...

Meryaten- you're right! I am phrasing it wrong! Thanks!

New pet peeve- maybe you have it too?

My latest pet peeve is that people have the audacity to keep comparing jaw surgery to having your wisdom teeth pulled! I'll explain to someone that I can only eat soft things because I had jaw surgery and most of the time said person will respond with something along the lines of, "oh ye...

Ok listen. Jaw surgery is complex! I say this as nicely as possible: you have no clue what you would have looked like! Only a professional can really speculate! I can tell you from firsthand expirience that unless an OS draws some prediction pictuers and such that you can't know what the results of ...

Mike is right. TMJ issues only get worse. Which is why I had my surgery now at age 20 (turned 21 two weeks after). Definetly see another ortho. It's true, a lot of them won't even bother recommending it because so few actually want to go through with it. I was talking to my ortho about it and she sa...

Good for you! I hope you have a good appointment!
Are you going to your referral? There's some posts on here (Meryaten- help!)
with questions to ask your ortho at the first appointment.

Really?! Okay, good thoughts. I was just thinking that it would be easier to wait but I'm hearing I will be miserable if I do. this is exactly what I wanted to tell you but I was rushed. Nose procedures are extremley common with upper jaw surgery and part of the package and it sucks because you're ...

Hey Meryaten, 3 out of 4 aint bad! I hve to confess though, with that overbite problem I was just repeating what he said! I have no clue about these things so thanks for the explanation! Oh my goodness, I've been in braces for seven years and don't know an 8th of the stuff about them that you...

Hi Kate! I'm at week 6 with plenty of numbness (my chin and my lips- which have tingles but I can it's going to be a while!). OS says I might just be a slow healer. So don't stress! That's awesome that you can have pizza. I'm not allowed anything extra chewy such as bagles or anyting hard. Oh well, ...

JSM01- as far as I understand you don't need a referral to call an orthodontst! I sure didn't have one! I just called! Moving your bottom jaw foward doesn't show what jaw sugery does. I asked the same thing (also overbite patient). Also, you do have an overbite! So you obviously need braces if anyth...

I don't have time to get into details right now but I most definetly 100% recommend gtting your wisdom teeth out now! Open wounds in your mouth that you will hardly be able to open and will be using a srynge in will be the LAST thing you need! Surgery is tough enough without extras like tooth extrac...

Hi there! I have a hump too!
check out my blog at www.xanga.com/vienna_girl

there's pics on there if you scroll and you can see the before and after of my nose. My OS worked on the tip a bit and the hump is much much less prominent! I love that!
