Re: Aligners too tight
It shouldn't take that long to put an aligner in. I was the first invisalign case in our orthodontic practice 5 years ago. The Drs. wanted to test the appliances on an employee first. I finished with a great result. Every once in a while we did have problems with an aligner that needed to be remade....

Re:extractions
Extraction of teeth normally does not cause a jaw to grow asymetrically. (I never say never) Crossbites usually develop because of: 1. genetics (history in family) of underdeveloped upper jaw, overdeveloped lower jaw or one side of ramus growing faster than the other. 2. breathing problems - upper j...

Re: Genioplasty
It will not be covered if the insurance company feels it is for cosmetic reasons only. Anyone requiring a genioplasty would require orthodontic treatment plus surgery to improve their occlusion or bite to maintain dental health over a lifetime. It may also not be covered if your plan does not cover ...

Re: Genioplasty insurance
I recommend you have your insurance pre-approved prior to surgery. Most insurance companies will cover orthognathic surgery, whether one or two jaw surgery. The oral surgeon will submit the pre-treament for the procedure after he evaluates. Normally the surgeon makes the final determination on wheth...

Re; Numbness
I am a treament coordinator that recently retired from an orthodontic practice. There is always a minimal risk of numbness post surgery. I have worked with over 200 surgical patients. The lip area is not normally where the patients are numb. Hopefully, you won't experience any numbness, but if you d...

Re: third molar extraction
Normally it takes 6 months for the bone to fill into the hole when the third molar has been removed. Third molars are usually removed at the onset of treatment so that the area is completely healed by the time of surgery.Surgery is normally 9-12 months into treatment and the area is completely heale...
