I personally had the surgery last June. I had a minor underbite (3-4 mm). Initially, I was to have surgery on both my lower and upper jaw but the discrepancy was so minimal that the morning of the surgery my doctor informed me only my lower jaw would be operated on. For me, I would do the surgery al...

I had only lower done. When I initially woke up from surgery I felt almost entirely numb but my later that day I had gotten feeling back everywhere but the left side of my bottom lip and the left side of my chin. This numbness continued for quite some time. I often times had twitching and shooting p...

Circle Moment: Delayed Onset Infection
Over the past week I had noticed that my face seemed a little puffy on the right side. Being that this was always the side that was a little more swollen during my recovery, I blamed lack of sleep. My family and my friends disregarded complaints of a chubby cheek and no one seemed to notice anything...

I have no idea exactly what method they used but I was intially told the difference was 6mm. The day of I was told the discrepancy was between 3 -6 mm. In the end I think my lower jaw was moved about 5 mm back and about 3 to the right. Does anyone know if having just the lower done will affect my po...

I forgot to mention that I only had lower done. It was intended that I got upper, lower and genio because I had a Class III underbite. No one ever commented that I had an underbite however and it was barely noticeable even to my bestfriends and parents. The surgeon decided the night before my surger...

Wowww thanks for all the great responses. I'm especially interested to hear about the length before helping out. I had my bottom braces on for about 24 months before the surgery and my top braces for about 18 months. My top teeth were always perfectly straight and there has been little to no obvious...

I agree totally. I would be incredibly happy if they took them off tomorrow. It doesn't help that my bestfriend got hers off a few months ago and my boyfriend got his off today. Are you waiting three months longer then the original 6 months they predicted? Or is this less than they initially predict...

When oh when will I get my braces off?
I am five weeks post-op and I am dying to get my braces off. How long after surgery do most people get their braces off? My surgeon said about 6 months after but I wouldn't be surprised if my orthodontist had different ideas. I would love to hear from everyone as to their personal experiences.

So here I am feeling great. Now I'm pretty sure I haven't hit that rock bottom ish feeling yet but I'm doing great. Things were a little hectic at the hospital. Upon arrival they told me to do a lack of recovery beds my surgery could very well be cancelled. My parents, nor my surgeon were not too pl...

unnaturally not nervous?
My surgery is wednesday around lunch time. And so far, I'm not nervous? Maybe it's because I've been thinking about and waiting for this day for what seems like forever. I feel more anxious and excited than anything. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure I'll cry like crazy as soon as I get to that waiting r...

Thank you so much for all of your posts! I'm guessing I won't have much choice but to play it by ear and see how things turn out. It looks as if it is a little bit different for each case. I would really be thrilled if I was like you, brandyleigh35, open mouth. That was the impression I was given by...
