Haha, that gap must have really freaked you out huh?? The gap in between my two front teeth was from the SARPE surgery where they separated my palate from my skull and then used a metal appliance to slowly widen my palate, which caused the gap in between my two front teeth so I had that along with m...

Hello! I haven't been on this site in months but just decided to browse today and saw your post. I had that exact same procedure done almost a year ago (June 20, 2007). I still had both of my baby canines and the adult canines were up in my gums. So my oral surgeon pulled the baby ones, exposed the ...

You are absolutely right Meryaten...I think part of it is laziness and also just really busy with work and trying to sell our house that I really don't put the effort into finding new recipes or creative ways to get my calories. But I know that I need to....guess I may have to take a trip down Amazo...

Just to clarify, I am not on liquids only :P , I was just drinking Ensure to try and get some extra calories since I was not eating as much as I normally would. I am eating lots of different solid, semi-soft foods....its just that my portions are very small. So I still feel hungry throughout the day...

One more thing
One more thing....I understand your difficulty with eating...I am 5'5" and weighed 108 before the surgery....I have lost about 6 pounds already. I used to drink a lot of Ensure but I am sick of that already. I'm doing everything I can to get the calories that I need but it's really hard.

Hey chipmunkcheeks, I had my sarpe surgery on June 20th, started expanding on June 26th twice a day for a week then once every other day for another week. I stopped expansion on July 9th and then got brackets on my front two teeth on July 12th. So far I have not seen any change in my gap, which is b...

Wow thanks Brandy. I was completely clueless as to how easy/hard it would be. Eating is difficult for me right now because I am just so frustrated with only being able to eat soft foods. Im just sick of the same old stuff ya know. I am not really sure as to what size space my ortho is going for. Whe...

Chewing/Eating after SARPE
Hello all....I am 16 days post SARPE surgery and I feel pretty good. To be completely honest, I was really surprised at how easy this whole process was. I did not have a lot of pain, swelling and bruising. In fact both my ortho and surgeon agreed that I looked really good back when I had my one week...

Thanks! I did switch toothpastes a few months ago and it did help a little. I do have wax and intend on using it! I just really wish that my mouth wasn't so sensitive! It's a curse really....I find it funny that I am more concerned with getting canker sores than the surgery or even the expander! I w...

How bad is SARPE??
Yesterday I went and got fitted for the expander and the metal bands that they put over your teeth had something (a bracket probably) on the outside of them that was really spikey! In the short time that I wore them, they already starting irritating the inside of my lips/cheeks. Is it really this ba...
