Cleaning retainers with solder points
I have come across retainer brite and another retainer cleaning solution but neither of them are suitable for retainers with solder points which is what I have. How do you keep these types of retainers clean and free from white build up. I know just brushing them isn't good enough in the long term, ...

My OS wanted me to start chewing soft foods (fish, mince, pasta) as soon as 3 weeks and to try to work the jaw as much as i felt comfortable with food. He said to just listen to my body and to eat what felt comfortable and push it a little but not to the point where I hurt myself. Following this adv...

Had my BSSO in July, no catheter at all....virtually the first thing I wanted to do after waking up was pee, with all the liquids they pump into your IV. I suppose a lot of health care people don't want to be bothering with bed pans right after the surgery, you too groggy to walk to the bathroom, or...

dubnobass, I know that feeling exactly. I kept asking the surgeon if he hadn't moved the lower jaw too far forward  because I just was unprepared for the lower teeth clashing on the uppers the way they do, and for the first two weeks or so when i started to get my feeling back, the pressure o...

Karen Apologies to dubnobass if this is a bit of a threadjack. I also had bottom molars extracted about 25 years ago that my ortho is now trying to close that gap. In my case though, no one knows why on earth healthy molars were extracted as i was not in orthodontics then. Result is that the teeth o...

I was definatley still a bit swollen 13 days post op. My swelling only really started going down that week. I went back to work 20 days post op and by then I was fine. Just keep doing what you are doing, time resolves all of this, and everyone is different. The only thing I was doing differently is ...

Just another voice to add to what other posters have mentioned. Definatley get a second opinion, this also happened to me. I used to go to my moms dentist and every single time I sat in that chair he said i needed a filling or two. My mouth is a mess of silver, which i hope to rectify sooner or late...

This is actually comforting to know in a way!! :? I've actually booked an appointment with my dentist next week because two of my lower teeth (on my numb side) are killing me, especially when I brush. I'm 6 weeks post op, of course it could be cavities but now I'm hoping that it's just nerve regener...

Ear ache
I'm now just over three weeks post op, about 10 days ago I started to wake up every morning with really bad ear ache. It would go away for the day after a pain killer. It gradually became less intense, and now I'm trying to get through the day without a pain killer, sometimes I can, but most days I ...
