I was so glad to find this thread. I usually post in the surgery forum because I had SARPE back in June. Ever since I started with the orthodontics, my lips have been incredibly swollen and so sore. I have asked the Ortho, the Oral Surgeon and a dermatologist and none have been any help. The Derm. s...

Hi everyone. I love that this thread stays going, it was such a huge help to me pre-SARPE. So... I am RPE FREE!! It feels so strange! My tongue doesn't know what to do with all of that extra space! He did put in a TPA, but that isn't bad at all. I can honestly say that I might even be able to forget...

Ward, WOOHOO!! I am so happy for you! I get mine out on Tuesday the 13th. I can't wait. Although, like you, I wonder if it will seem strange without it. After alomost 6 months, as much as I don't like it, I've gotten used to it. That's great news about the Lefort, I wish I could say the same. You'll...

Hi everyone! Just wanted to see how you are all doing? I spoke with my Ortho, at my daughters appt. the other day and he decided that he is going to place my lower braces on the same day as my expander is removed and the TPA put in. I have a 2 hour appt. I'm guessing my jaw will be pretty sore by th...

Hi Lisa, I don't think it's uncommon for your teeth to be sensitive, given what we've been through. My teeth are like that sometimes. Actually, my right canine is still super sensitive. I mentioned it a while ago to my OS but, he didn't seem very concerned. It is funnt how all of the Ortho's do thin...

Well, I went to my appt. yesterday. I was a little discouraged when I left. I do finally have a date to have my expander removed, November 13th. BUT now, he wants to put in a TPA. I guess he likes to be really careful. It seems too careful to me. On November 13th, I'll be just shy of 6 months!! UGH!...

Hello PCPFORMULA, Unfortunately, I am no help to you. I was actually wondering if I could ask you a few questions. I had SARPE on June 1st and am supposed to have upper jaw sugery (Lefort I) sometime in the spring/early summer. What kind of surgery did you have? I am trying to prepare myself as much...

I can't wait for my appt. on Tuesday, I have a TON of questions! Good luck to Ward and Lisa at your appt's on the 18th!

Ward, That is so awesome!! I have to ask though... is the top of your front teeth by your gums closed?? Mine still isn't. The bottom is completely closed so I have this little triangle opening. It isn't budging. I am so jealous you might get your expander out on the 18th. I want mine out so badly! T...

ZmaN277 (Zach), After 4 months I still don't think I eat and talk like I used to. I find swallowing difficult and I still can't pronounce certain words correctly. Sometimes my family laughs because when I'm in a good conversation, words will get all slurred together. You just have to keep telling yo...

When I started on here in May or June, I read the whole thread so, I do remember reading about you. It's good to hear you are doing so well. Do you have any upcoming surgeries? na2r4, I hope we a...

Hi ZmaN277, I had my SARPE on June 1st. My expander was placed 1 week before my surgery. Personally, I had a really tough time in the beginning with my expander. I am however very glad I had it placed before surgery. It gave me time to get used to it instead of waking up to the shock of it all, all ...
