oh....I have a band on the tooth next to the one where the bracket keeps coming off - can you have 2 bands next to each other?
And I have another question - I see you are now brace-free (lucky thing!) DO you need to replace your crowns when you have finsihed treatment?

I had the brackets re-attached today and so far so good. The Ortho used extra adhesive and didn't roughen the crown, so I am relieved about that. Hopefully we will have more success this time!

Thanks guys - that all helps. It is so good to know that there are people out there that have gone through the same thing. TI - I have 8 crowns (1 gold 7 ceramic) and have had 6 replaced in the last 3 years, I was very wary about getting braces on crowns, I wasn't even sure it could be done. 2 of my...

Brackets refusing to stick to crowns

I have had 4 brackets attached to crowns for the first time this week. They lasted 2 days and all 4 came off, then 2 popped off on the way home from having them reattached. I called my Ortho and he said this happens as the crown surface is too smooth. He suggests "roughing up" the surface ...

I am having them put back on later today. I wouldn't even notice they were off except I saw them swinging when I was brushing! He did tell me they might pop off as the adhesive used on crowns isn't as strong as the normal stuff. As to opening the bite - the front top teeth are being spaced out a bit...

Yes - I had uppers only on for the first month, then lowers went on this week. My top teeth can hit the lower bracketsif I make them, but actually stick out further than them... but my Ortho said this was ok. I have an emergency appointment today, so I'll ask him again. It sounds like your teeth may...

Well 4 brackets popped off today - but none where the result of biting, they were all attached to crowns. My Ortho had said this might happen, as there can be problems with the brackets adhering to crowns. Hopefully I can get in to see him tomorrow!
