Is there a good list of what all these acronyms/terms are exactly in detail.

SARPE, BSSO, LeForte, etc.

I haven't heard either my OS call my surgeries by these names.

I am having my lower jaw moved back and my upper widened. Is my lower called a BSSO and upper LeForte?

I was told I would be completely wired shut.

My lower is longer than my upper so to correct they want to cut my lower jaw very high and let it reset into place.

I have a third opinion in a very weeks but both OS said that's what would have to happen.

My OS is saying I will have to be wired shut 4-6 weeks after surgery.

Seems like a nightmare! What if I got the flu?

Who has dealt with this and how was it?

And what State do you live in?

I was told my TMJ joints are fine it's just my lower jaw being larger is putting stress on my TMJ joints which makes them very sore. I made my previous question too broad. Mostly looking for people who have tried everything to help their TMJ problems and finally had jaw surgery to help.

What surgery did you get and how much pain do you experience now compared to before?

Anyone had a relapse or read about someone who has?

I would hate to get jaw surgery only for the jaw to move back!

I need to have it. My TMJ pain is getting really bad and I'm only 24.

I have insurance but they say straight up they will not pay for ortho surgery in the Exclusions clause. Anyone here ever had their insurance say that then end up paying?
