Re: What is expected at the first retainer check?
Hi guys, Thank you all for responding, sorry I took a while to reply back. Yes I agree with you all my ortho SHOULD have at least checked my teeth and retainer at the first check, what a waste of my time! I don't live near the practice either. I will definitely write an email to complain about this ...

What is expected at the first retainer check?
Hi feel a little disappointed, had my first retainer check, but the ortho didn't even check my teeth or the essix retainer, just came in and stood there and asked how are you going, I barely got to address my minor concerns. I had to get him to come back in so I could actually tell him my concerns. ...

Re: Essix retainer adjustment
Wow he is still tweaking after 6 months..what is he tweaking may I ask? So after all those dimple impressions will you need to get a new retainer eventually? Do you think the ortho can move a tooth down a little at least? He tweaked my retainer just before I first wore it, it looks as though my righ...

Essix retainer adjustment
Hi I have had my braces off 4 weeks ago and now wearing essix retainers. My ortho plans to put the permanent retainer wire on in 6 months. I asked the assistant why in 6 months and not right away, she said 'thats his plan and every case is different', but I'm not sure exactly why. He did mention BEF...

Re: What kind AND how much adjusting can retainers achieve?
Bullfighter, I just picked up my essix retainers today - the ortho can in fact make minor adjustments, apparently he had already made some tweaks to my retainer before my first wear - he will then review in a few weeks. This has made me happy he knew I was a perfectionist and a nit-pick with the ali...

Re: Going from Linguals to 'external' braces at finishing st
Today I went to get a 2nd opinion I was lucky to get the appointment as there was a cancellation. Well he agrees with me and thinks that things still can be improved including the right incisor that obviously looks too rotated still, he could clearly see it. My ortho thinks its the best he can do. W...

Re: Going from Linguals to 'external' braces at finishing st
I have to say that i'm nearing 3 years in braces. Originally I had linguals top/ceramic bottoms. I started off with linguals - a decision I regret now, all that money wasted. Note I also don't have braces on all front teeth just the front 8. I have full braces on the bottom. I feel as though I haven...

Wire tie
Hi I had an adjustment yesterday and had 2 wire ties put on on two different brackets. I noticed today that one of the wire ties is not 'tight' like the other one. It moves if I touch with my finger but not enough to come off the bracket. Should I go back in to get this one tightened around the brac...

Re: THINNING of face during braces
I also got comments of how I looked thinner around the face. I used to have a more squarish jawline which made alot of people even strangers say I looked like Sophie Ellis Bextor which I didn't mind as she is stunning hehe. Now I have more prominent cheekbones which I love and my squarish jaw has no...

Re: Nearing debanding - not happy with right side of my teet
UGHBRACES - I did not know that I would end up with a result that I have now, he had original plans to move my bottom teeth to the right I guess to help correct midline as best as he can, but he ended up not doing that. I wish I had brought that up as soon as I realised. He just didn't tell me and I...

Nearing debanding - not happy with right side of my teeth
Hi I am nearing the end of my treatment and the ortho thinks its almost time for debanding but I am not happy with the way he has kind of tipped in my right teeth from my later incisor to the second premolar, in order to for the bite to fit together. My midline is way off but that is because I have ...

Hi drted, I am very happy to hear that. I am enjoying the process knowing my front teeth will be in an optimal position. I can see more improvement on top of my already straightened teeth after 3 weeks. Though I am still not happy with the position of my canines...I would like them to come down abit...

Ok so I got it wrong..... I did not get any moulds done yet for retainers, I must have understood him wrong. I guess they will be done once I'm finished as normally it would. But I did get the top linguals taken off to get ceramic brackets placed on the outside of my top teeth to help level a...
