Nice one. It's great to know it's over isnt it? Big phew!! My biggest problem now is the numbness. They told me there was no nerve damage, so I suppose it's just a matter of time. It has got better but the roof of my mouth is still completely numb. Oh, and while I've been laid up my legs appear to h...

Yep, feeling better all the time. Obviously I still look like I've been hit in the face with a large cantaloupe, but in terms of energy, no probs. The lumps either side of my bottom jaw seem to have gone down a bit this morning, but now one side has a largish yellow bruise. Why would I have a bruise...

Hello All...
One week post-op and not doing too bad. I was allowed home the following day, which on reflection was too soon. I thought I was ok until I got in the car and began to feel pretty ropey. I've been in bed more or less ever since. I was naive and didnt realise how much an op of this size takes out of y...

Cheers Tony. Funny/depressing thing is, It all started when I went to my GP about the aches in my jaw. He sent me to a specialist, next thing I've got a gob full of metal! I wouldn't have minded as much if I was a teenager. They seem to see it as a fashion accessory. But I'm 40 now, and there's a re...

Hi redfoxjo, Yep, it's been a real pisser of a wait. They havent really said why, just that my teeth were taking a long time to get into the right position. I also had a lot of breakages at the beginning when the wire was light. According to my ortho, this isnt an extraordinary length of time to wai...

Cheers bb. When they first told me they would only be moving my top jaw, the cynic in me thought, 'they're just trying to save a few quid'. Since then though, ive been having a good look and I can see exactly where they're coming from. Wierd how an underdeveloped upper jaw can make it look like you ...

Surgery Date.
Hello. I've had my brace on for 4 years and today I finally got my date for surgery. I'm to be admitted on the 2nd of March prior to surgery on the 3rd. To be honest it came as a shock after all this time to be told my op is in little more than 3 weeks away. I've done nothing but moan to my ortho ab...

Well I didnt expect that! I've just been to my 'planning clinic'. Eight boffins stood around measuring, discussing and prodding me. If that wasnt particularly pleasant, the news that I dont need my bottom jaw moving at all, just my top, was very welcome. Presumably this will make it a much more comf...

I know how you feel- it's such a pain waiting for a surgery that can have such a big impact on your life. Since your ortho has done all she can pre-surgery, I'd say you're on your way to get a date  If I'm completely honest, I dont think id have started all this if id known how long it would ...

Well if it is the clinic with your surgeon, they will come and have a look and basically sort out exactly what they're going to be doing, explain the procedure, and sort out when your surgery will be. That's how my clinic went down (UK) :) It depends on what they still have to do brace-wise, but us...

Planning Clinic?
Hello. I havent posted for a while. Basically because absolutely nothing has been happening! It's been a very frustrating 37 months in braces, without any mention of my op. I've mentioned it several times to me ortho, but She just says, "I know, Ive told the surgeon. I've done as much as I can&...
