I've had mine on only slightly longer than you, dreamer, and I'm still very cautious about biting with my front teeth. I also have a woobly tooth which is driving me NUTS!!! :x I believe it says in 'Braces 101' on this site that this is all part of the process. However, I just can't leave the tooth ...

Sorry you're in pain, yse. I got given a tube of silicone gel by my ortho - although I much prefer the wax. The practice is just opposite St. Paul's Tube Station, if that's any good to you. I imagine they'd be happy to sell you some. Otherwise, this website sells it: http://www.orthoshop.co.uk...

Great post... Yes, I can honestly say I love my braces too... with no kinky connotations whatsoever! Unlike the 'first timers' in the forum, I have something to compare them to: the hideous, ineffective, painful metal bands I had on my teeth thirty years ago. In comparison my ceramics look a ...

http://www.123glitter.com/graphics-gallery/welcome/64.gif Hi Howling Wolf. I felt like howling myself when I got my braces on  but now - nearly 2 weeks on - I sometimes almost forget they are there. Hope you stop feeling sore soon. http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/d/4;10301;0/st/20070802/...

I was going to leave the wire, so I could measure my progress  but it started to get annoying. My ortho divides himself between other practices, a hospital and the university, so thanks to this wonderful forum, I'd already asked him what to do if the wire needed trimming when he wasn't there. ...

My dentist also told me that I couldn't get my braces on the NHS - although there are posts here that say otherwise, as babyduck says... He did offer to refer me to an orthodontist, but he is quite a long way from where I live (I stayed with him after I moved) and his ortho would have been even more...

Hi and welcome Mary! I got my braces on a week ago, so I'm a newbie too. I'm totally squeamish about 'anything medical' as well, but I must say getting my braces on didn't really fall into that category. The worst bit was getting the 2 moulds of my teeth done, and waiting for the icky plaster to dry...
