I had braces for several years as a pre-teenager. At the time my orthodontist was not happy with my progress/results and I was sick of having braces in general so we removed the braces. Subsequently I did not wear my retainer. So for years I have blamed myself for the shifting my teeth did afterward...

Does anyone with braces remember how long it took for them to be able to speak 'normally' again? I definitely have a lisp going on right now. I think part of it is that my mouth is so sore that I'm afraid of moving it around too much at this point.
