Traditional braces are around $1500-$3000. About 5 years ago I tried Invisalign, the cost was $5200 for both top and bottom, treatment time was estimated about about 24 months. (I HATED them, I only lasted about 3 months before I terminated my treatment) My linguals (top only) were about $7000 for 1...

I use Dr. Ted Rothstein. I live in Nassau and he's in Brooklyn Heights but SO worth it. He's honest (sometimes brutally!), hysterical, and his chairside is awesome. You've gotta have a sense of humor going in there because he definitely does, he's not some uptight, condescending, better than you, fa...

I've had STb brackets (top only, no treatment on lowers) for 4 months and other than a little lisp and some tongue irritation the first 5 days or so, they haven't effected how I eat, how I speak, or anything I do (besides an adult activity I'll keep to myself, lol). iBraces are another low profile o...

Obviously, if you had to pick between only the 2, go with the one you are comfortable with. HOWEVER, although the ortho is the one actually doing the braces, you will be interacting a LOT with his staff. Scheduling and calling with questions and what not. The staff at my orthos office are all sweet ...

Within a few dyas I noticed teeny spaces between my teeth that were never there before. And like lionfish said....when I would floss I noticed the floss would go in and out smoothly, no more pulling and tugging.

In NYC, I paid $7000 for uppers only, full mouth would have been a touch over $13,000. So to me that price sounds about normal. If I wanted to add ceramics to the bottom teeth (didnt have to my bottom teeth are nearperfect), he would have charged me a nominal fee, a couple hundred dollars. For me, s...

The first day was by FAR the toughest. And you immediately think that's how it's going to be forever......far from it. I was fine within a few days and within a couple weeks I was eating everything I was before and speaking problem free! Search around a bit..a million people have asked this question...

I agree. I've never even heard of that being done. Even if you did find 2 orthos to participate, after you pay the one in China, plus a roundtrip flight to Thailand , plus whatever fee the ortho near your home will charge, you'd probably just be better off getting it all done in one place. I imagine...

I used it on the back brackets for about 4 days, I haven't used it since and it's been 3 months. It was a pain because I would forget it was in, then try to eat something, it was a waxy ball of food mess. I'm better off without it, lol.

I agree, do not go too far from home. Besides regular visits (I go every 3 weeks because my teeth are moving quickly) you'll inevitably have the broken wire, popped off powerchain, or metal poking emergency visit between regular visits. My ortho is an hour and even that's a hassel! Unless you want t...

And yes, as your gap closes, your ortho will sand down the temporary tooth until the gap is small enough that he can remove the temporary altogether :)

For some reason the board is not allowing me to edit a post, so I have to make another!!

I had the molars behind my eye teeth extracted years ago for Invisalign. Long story short, that treatment ended up going south and I terminated my ortho. Fast forward 4 years later, I'm in linguals and my ortho placed bonded temporary teeth to fill in the gaps. They are just little fake teeth attach...

The price for linguals top and bottom for me (in NYC) was roughly $12,000. The price for tops only (which I went with) was $7,000. My linguals dont go all the way to my back molars, they only go as far as my second to last on each side.

I had my first adjustment appointment Saturday. I had no clue either! I trust my Ortho 200% so I knew it would be nothing terrible...he's very gentle :) He removed the rubber bands and the old wire, placed a stiffer wire in the brackets and put on 2 powerchains to do some serious pulling. They are j...

I had my first adjustment (wire change) this past Saturday and he said my hygiene was perfect. I don't need any special tools or gadgets. Just brush 2-3 times and day and floss with regular floss. I also invested (a whopping $8! haha ) in a set of basic dental tools from the drugstore. The scaler, p...
