I find the wire always decides to stick out half a mile and lacerate me at weekends or if I'm travelling and can't get to my ortho. It has done this several times now, it seems to move in and out of position.

Re: Ever felt crooked teeth held you back in life (pre-brace

I also feel that not having a perfect smile can EXTREMELY limit a woman in life because a lot of men would not want to date someone with crooked teeth (if the guy is desirable himself, most likely he would not date someone with crooked teeth), teeth are part of the overall package and everyone know...

It was my dental nurse who advised against them, she seemed to think that a rotary style electric toothbrush might knock brackets off teeth. I tried explaining the difference between a sonic toothbrush and a rotary toothbrush but I don't think she quite got it

I have used Sonicare brushes for years and have always been very happy with them; however when I went to get my brace fitted, the dental nurse who gave me the little talk on oral hygiene, do's and don'ts etc. advised against electric toothbrushes! I think she was confusing the sonic brushes with the...

I was told categorically by my ortho that I shouldn't chew gum as it would break my brace :(

Thanks for the welcome!

I can't get my back teeth together at all at the moment because my upper right canine catches on the block below it :? I'm sure it will work itself out once my teeth start moving

I use Dentyl pH regularly. I got a bit of a shock the first time I used it with my new braces - all that pink yack stuck all over my brackets was a little disturbing, although it has shown me the more problematic areas that need more attention when brushing.

Newbie from Ireland

Hi All,

I had self-ligating metal braces fitted to my lower teeth last Friday with ceramics or a retainer style brace for my uppers to follow.

It's all pretty exciting, uncomfortable but not too painful, and I miss being able to chew!
