Sorry to hear about your allergy problems!

It must be awesome to have someone to talk to about braces. NO ONE in my program at school or at work have braces. One lady USED to, but, she's a little intimidating, so I don't shmooze for braces advice.

I'm seeing progress already! The two front teeth don't cross over one another as much and my open bite's getting more open (repositioning it for surgery.)

Also, the inside of my mouth isn't feeling so much like hamburger, so I'm getting toughened up, too.

Me too! I love mine, too!

I got them three days ago, and every time I pass a mirror/car window/random shiny I have to stop and give myself a big grin so I can see them again.

Erin and the Purple Shinies.

I've had my braces on since Wednesday, and I really, really love them, despite the discomfort. My teeth are a little tender from being yanked about, since the poor hygienist had to tug on me with pliers and practically pound my bands on with a hammer. She kept apologizing for the trouble she was hav...

Thank you for your concern, Kiwi. My orthodontist gave me a packet of instructions. Right now, despite the tenderness, I absolutely adore them so much that my attitude toward them isn't really a problem. I less-than-three shinies and am quite happy to have shinies on my teeth. I'm actually coordinat...

They're on, pretty, and shiny.

A little tenderness, but not nearly as uncomfortable as the spacers were.

Yet.

I am cautiously optimistic.

Decoder ring to arrive soon. Stop.

Thanks!

My bite feels weird already! These spacers have moved all of my teeth around. Now the spaces between my molars are so big that the spacers keep falling out and I have to keep putting them back. I hope I don't swallow any in my sleep...

Braces on in two days!

I'm actually really excited about them, which may be strange. However, they're going to be a lifesaving distraction, as my fiance has to go back to his country until December. Not that I'll really need much of a distraction, what with this being my last semester of grad school, though! Anyway, has a...

I have to have surgery AND braces, so I'm kind of stuck with a shape-change. Which is a bit of a pity, as I quite like my face...

I'm really, really hoping for some braces/surgery related weight loss, actually. Right now, I can't really chew because of the spacers, but I'm afraid that I'm using that as an excuse to eat bad food, like rice, potatoes (I don't put any butter on them, but those starches are BAD NEWS), etc. Since I...

If general extractions are anything like wisdom tooth extractions (and I don't see why they wouldn't be... but then, what do I know?), then they really aren't that bad. I had a wisdom tooth taken out without anything, novacaine, gas, etc., and I would describe the experience as "unpleasant and ...

Hi! I got my spacers on the 17th, and couldn't chew anything. In fact, I'm still not up to chewing, since I have metal ones and they like to wedge up in my gums. Itchytingly.

Anyway, I've also heard that spacers are the worst, so here's to optimism.
