Pain on gums around 1 tooth - wearing Hawley Retainer
Is this normal? I am wearing a hawley retainer at night to finish closing a couple of gaps. I have had this retainer for a couple of months now with no issues. A week or so ago I noticed the gums were sensitive around this one tooth while flossing, but now I can barely brush it. It does not hurt at ...

Thank you for the reply. I am glad your son did so well. It sure makes it a lot easier on us parents! Well, today was the big day, and I had it ALL WRONG! I almost started crying right in the office but didn't want him to know my worry. He actually got four braces put on today on his top front teeth...

My 7-year-old is starting phase 1 tomorrow
Okay, I am now getting very nervous! My son will be starting phase 1 treatment tomorrow. I was debraced this past June, so at least I feel I can empathize, but would like to hear from parents whose young children have been through this. For some reason I am now having 2nd thoughts - just mommy worry...

Teeth sensitive to touch on one side
I have had braces for 19 months with no sensitivity issues. I have had rubber bands for about 3 weeks now. Last night when I was brushing, I had just put the toothbrush on the lower left quadrant to start brushing, and just the touch from the toothbrush caused me to jump out of my skin, I couldn't e...

Yeah at my orthodontist, the assistants pretty much do 90% of the technical work too, including intially putting the brackets on. The orthondist himself only checks at the end of each adjustment to see if everythings all right, I only see him for like two minutes each time I have an appointment. I ...

Quite normal. Always remember that pain = movement. So if your feeling tenderness it's a good sign somethings going on!! Each time I got a new wire my teeth hurt for 1-2 days. Funny thing though my teeth always feel tender 2-3 days before an adjustment lol. Mine too, LOL! It's like my teeth can sen...

Well my Kangaroo ones seem very springy...and my Rams are really strong! Well, then can I have some of your Kangaroo's! :P I would like springy right now! These are so strong that I struggle to even fit a tylenol in there, and when I talk I have to grit my teeth. and it puts tremendous pressure on ...

I got the clear on top and metal on the bottom. I wanted clear for vanity reasons. If I could go back and do it again, I would have metal top and bottom. My bottom teeth have never bothered me, while my top have. The clear braces are a lot bulkier. I have a very small mouth, and wish i would have ch...

I agree with everybody here who said to never give up! And call/visit many orthodontists. You never know when you will get your wish. My story: Parent's couldn't afford braces; hated and hid my smile my whole life, serious overbite/overjet, very crooked teeth, back teeth never touched.....cried all ...

I just got rubber bands on Wednesday. OMG! I thought the bite plate was bad, LOL! I too, have to wear them full time (except eating and brushing) at least until my next appt. in mid-March. I would say I average between 20-21 hours a day, and I honestly believe that is PLENTY long enough, at least I ...

Eric: No, my back teeth never touched my entire life, plus just as you mentioned with yours, my top teeth completely covered lower teeth. I could actually stick the entire top half of my thumb up there! Not sure how long you would need it. But I can tell you that I knew it was getting close to the e...

Thank you for replying. I was scared because they attempted to remove it a while back to adjust it (was digging into my palette), and they were trying to just pull it down???? It felt like they were ripping my teeth out of my head. I told them they had to stop, that I would just live with it digging...
