Thanks, everyone. I would say my braces journey was definitely worth it. I am really happy with the results! I have received many compliments on my teeth... but I feel weird saying thank you! Haha... they should thank my orthodontist! I'm feeling a little sore from the retainer, and the glue o...

My braces are OFF! I am so happy... it feels really strange though. The process was quite long and I hate to say it, but it actually hurt a fair amount when the brackets were popped off. Grinding off the glue wasn't too pleasant either. After 3 hours in the chair, here are the results: http://img508...

I have the same sort of thing going on with my bite - one side touches more than the other. I'm getting my braces off in two days... so nothing will be done about this. It bothers me a bit, but I assume things will settle eventually when the braces are off. I can't even remember how my bite was befo...

I got elastics after about a year in braces, when alignment of the teeth was pretty much finished. It seems that my ortho likes to get the teeth all in their right places before working on the bite.

Hey all! So today I had my last adjustment ever! And in exactly one week, my braces will be gone! I had the mold done for my lower bonded retainer... that certainly was interesting. It was done with wire and ligs still on, so brushing out all the gunk afterword was loads of fun! :? Also, I no longer...

Congrats on your debanding date! Just one day after mine! I'll be getting an upper Essix retainer (Invisalign-like), and I was told that it results in less lisping, as there isn't a huge part covering your palate like Hawley retainers. I'm not so sure about the saliva, though! As with any new applia...

Hi! I too had a minor underbite, which was corrected with reverse-pull headgear as well as class III elastics. I saw more improvement with the elastics than headgear, so it is definitely possible to correct with elastics. (Of course, depending on severity.) I wish you luck with the elastics - I hope...

My elastics are 1/4" 4.5 oz. They're called "Medium" but in another brand I had, this weight was "Heavy". They're pretty strong, and they very rarely snap. beanstix, sorry to hear about your elastic fiasco! Hopefully your ortho will give you different elastics or figure out ...

At my initial consult, I had everything done - x-rays, molds, pictures, bite impression, and I even got spacers put in!

About 10 months in, I had another x-ray to check root alignment.

I think my ortho is pretty thorough!

Yes! This happened to me. I even had the same elastic configuration! I decided that the ortho knows best, so I went with her suggestion. I thought my teeth were going back to their old positions, but I waited it out, and my bite felt better after a while. Now, I have a class II elastic only on my le...

Yes! I definitely feel like I favour the left side when brushing. (I'm right-handed). I think it's much easier to brush there and get everywhere.

Also, I seem to chew more with my left side... :?

Next time I brush, I'll try starting with my right side and see what happens!

I have normal brackets on all of my teeth, and bands just on my 1st molars. My second molars are left naked, and will not be treated at all. The ones on the lower arch actually look quite nicely in line anyways, however my upper second molars are kind of crazy and tilted outwards! I really d...
