Re: Buttons (attachments) placed on the lingual side of teet

yes, i had one on my lateral incisor. It was ver comfortable, didn't affect my speech or make it difficult to take out the trays at all. I asked my ortho if it was possible and he said he could if i want to. I knew i needed an attachment on that tooth because my first round of aligners pushed it up ...

i had my expander put in early last year at 28 years old. It was an RPE which i turned once every other day. i ended up only doing 27 turns out of the 30 because i got scared that my teeth were tipping too much. After i was done turning my ortho said i could have it taken out. In total, i wore it fo...

i went to 5 ortho's. 1 said 4 extractions, 2 said most likely but not sure, 2 said no extractions. I went with no extractions. I figure that if i got the teeth pulled out there was no going back. If the non-extraction method was not working then i could always reconsider. I'm very happy with my choi...

i had mine on for about 3 months. I was originally told 6 months so it was quite a surprise when my ortho told me to make an appointment to remove it. Mine was non- surgical expansion and i was told to turn it 30 times, once every other day. I did stop a few turns short of that as i noticed my molar...

Hi I'm 28 as well. I currently have an expander in but have finished expanding. The way my ortho explained it is that the actual pallet does not expand but the bone surrounding the teeth is pushed outward and will move as the arch expands. That is true for most adults. Although rare, i've read a stu...

I can relate.... I had an expander put in about 5 weeks ago and it affects my speech. For the first 3 weeks, i felt so dumb whenever i had to talk. I had more than a few embarrasing moments. It will get better. My speech is still not back to normal but i don't seem to care as much. You have to think...

thanks guys for responding. I'm still not seeing any improvement in my speech. i actually think its worse than the first week. I was thinking that everytime you turn the key of the expander the top part spreads open a bit more which means the expander is taking up more space... maybe thats whats add...

spring is still kinda cold here... but i get your drift. Summer is going to suck! There just seems to be so much more socializing and parties and going out. Hanging out in a park or a beach where its just not possible to run to the bathroom and brush your teeth after you eat. Just had an expander pu...

2 weeks with expander and feeling awful

Sorry to be such a downer... but this is the only place i can vent. I've had my RPE expander in for 2 weeks now and i still can't talk or eat properly. It's really affecting the quality of my life. I really expected to be accustomed to it by now. Although, i practice reading out loud.... it doesn't ...

Wow i can't believe such losers exist! They obviously are pathetic and have no life. But honestly, I would ignore it. If you say something to your boss he will have to raise the issue with your co-workers causing more office drama and gossip prolonging the attention to your braces. Chances are in a ...

In addition to usual brushing, i also use tiny inter-dental brushes i bought at walmart. You can go in between the teeth with them and also into the tubes attached to the band.

eyebeablessing, i tried the lemon water and no luck but thanks anyways. I guess i just have to wait it out. You'd think by day 7 my mouth would stop salivating like the expander is food or something. I'm hoping this week it will settle down.

Braceasorous, Although i too am scared of other peoples comments, you just gotta step back and let rationality take over. It really isn't a big deal to anyone but you. A friend of mine brought me to my senses when i was talking to her about how overwhelmed i was with the expander. If anyone does mak...
