thanks everyone for the support. Phil- I really like your presonal goal.. it is mine as well! OMJ- My lips do not close right now, because my lower jaw is severely recessed, I can with some effort, and right now, elastics. I went for a run, and thought about it, and I think I am just going to stick ...

On the TMJ issue, I am actually having a TMJ arthroplasty, where they are actually going to stitch my joints back into place and do a complete reconstruction. As for the lower jaw advancement, it is what caused the TMJ. I have a Class 3 Overbite and in order for me to eat and talk, I actually disloc...

Debating LeForte, in addition to BSSO and TMJ Arthoplasty

So, my surgery got pushed back to mid-August because my orthodontist said my teeth would not be ready at that point. Part of me is happy, because I think I can squeeze in a triathlon and some summer fun before surgery, but part of me wants to just get the darn thing over with. So, in my waiting peri...

Yeah, I dont really have any space, and I was definitely planning in Zip Squeeze bags. We have a nice Cuisinart blender we got as a wedding gift and it does well, but even when I blend now, I still get a lot of chunks, and there there is the pain in the rear of having to take the blender apart and c...

I have a severe overbite, and it does the same thing, I am always told I look sad and unhappy. Also, now I have to chew with my mouth open and its really really hard for me to swallow, so its loud and disguisting when I eat. My parents used to yell at me and tell me how embarassing I was for the foo...

Thanks everyone, I will try to keep a better attitude.. Im a notorious pessimist, and much as I hate to admit it :) I think I will be investing into a Magic Bullet, I keep reading that those are a lifesaver. And I will be tightly banded for 2 weeks, and then able to do no chew, or soft foods after t...

Im sure my opinion will change once I actually go through it, ha ha ha! Its so easy to set those goals for myself without knowing what I am up against. I can dream. Im sure living off of very little liquid food wont help either..

Im glad to get some input on the exercise portion of recovery as well. While they have postponed my surgery to July-ish, I havent had a chance to ask my surgeon yet. We have a home gym, and I have gym membership, so I am hoping to at least make it from upstairs to our gym downstairs (elliptical, som...

First thing is first... is TMJ/oral surgery an exclusion (as it was in my case). If it is excluded from your policy, it may not matter if it is pre-exhisting or not. If you are unsure, ask your insurance company. Gosh, insurance shouldnt be this complicated, but then again, I think I have had the wo...

They have to make an incision along my ears for the joint reconstruction to relocate my dislocated discs, I am unsure exactly where or how long. His assistant said either right in front of the ear or along the hair line above the ear to get access to the joint space.

I got a digital model, and if anything... looking at the before picture was enough to assure me that I will definitely look better afterwards. Even though I consider myself thin, when I looked at my side profile picture, I noticed that I have a double chin, just because my lower jaw is so recessed b...

OMG! That sounds so nice! We never went on a honeymoon after our wedding, but we took a couple little honeymoons to disneyland, and a hotsprings spa. My husband didnt mean to make me feel bad, but the other day he made a comment that if I didnt have this surgery, we could have planned a vacation to ...

Now, of course I'm not trying to imply that your parents do not. In fact I wonder if part of their attitude might be born of some element of guilt that you're having to deal with this now, as an adult. Or if they feel there is some implied criticism that they "let this happen" to you. Har...
