This is such a cute questions (or perhaps I think so because I thought the EXACT same thing the first time I was in that security line with my new metal mouth). I can say for certain that, even with metal bone plates in my jaw/cheekbones, I never set off a detector. I've had rivets in jeans that dre...

Re: Rebraced? whats the shortest time you've had between bra
Well I appreciate the sympathy, so sorry to bum anyone out! I WISH WISH WISH I could point to something and say that it could've avoided it (i wore an advanced hawley retainer, with a bumper behind my front teeth religiously). The one thing I would say is not to jump the gun on being "done.&quo...

Rebraced? whats the shortest time you've had between braces?
I'm in a bit of a depressed place right now, marching to my doom today to get braces again...only 16 months after they were removed and retention was started. I know lots of people on here are getting braces again as adults following an adolescent stint, but what is the shortest time anyone has had ...

Re: Adult Non-Surgical Palatal Expansion
Welcome to the forum! I'm about a year out after my palate expander, and though I'm not exactly an uplifting case (I'm getting brackets back on today), my expansion seems to have held so far without significant tilting or gum damage. If you have that much space from extractions I'd imagine that the ...

Re: THEY ARE OFF!!! Retainer Questions!!
I just got mine off TODAY (10-25-11) after 15 months. I'm not enjoying getting used to top and bottom hawleys, but still happy to be free. I feel like i see the 27-7 for a month and then nightly a lot, but my ortho just said one week of fulltime wear and then just night time, is that odd? also anoth...

Re: Whitening
I got mine off TODAY!! (10-25-11) and my ortho said I could start over-the-counter whitening right away, but just pay close attention to my already sore and puffy gums. Once my gums get back to normal and I get a few days of brushing with a sensetivity toothpaste underway, I'll start the 20% opulenc...

Re: had a "Kim" wire with your elastics?
smilelikeyoumeanit: Looks like we are very similar with our brace dates. I am 8 months with uppers and 2.5 months with my lowers. I get the stupid crazy wires in September....I bet you are getting yours around that time as well? Keep us posted on your visit today! Do you have an open bite as well? ...

Re: Debanding Fears and What you Did - Anyone push back date
thanks for the help everyone! I did decide to tell my ortho that it bothered me, even if it pushed back the date (still set for two weeks from now, we'll see) he still didn't notice it until I told him, but then couldn't believe that he hadn't fixed it. literally, he acted baffled. though the appoin...

Re: What was your first meal after Debonding day?
Big fat juicy steak... I'm just gonna pick it up with my hands and sink my teeth into it caveman style....lol only the first day that is lol This made me actually laugh out loud. I love it! particularly considering your screen name. I've done the steak thing in tiny pieces, but I get what you mean ...

Re: What was your first meal after Debonding day?
I know that this question has been posted on here a hundred times, but to me, i never get sick of daydreaming of the post-braces foods. my SUPPOSED deband date is in 3 weeks, but I wont let myself believe it's true until the little rascals are getting pried from my teeth. now, for the foodlust: I'm ...

My ortho also passes on things he gets for free, wax, wax substiutes. All the latest that he gets sent or picks up at conferences. So it couldn't hurt to ask for a handful of sample sizes. THAT being said, it may not have been a sample size. I have a sample size of the colgate "rx" toothpa...

Re: Do teeth get filed down after debracing??
I asked the SAME type question in the naked tooth thread. Though I'm not sure if mine could be evened out by filing or if should tell my ortho that I'm willing to extend my treatment time (push back my debracing date) in order to get them even. argh. I think I could deal better with filing (my denti...

Re: Question re retainer & whitening
I'm getting excited for debanding in a couple months and really wanting to whiten. Reading the most recent posts I looked up Opalescence and this is what I found: Many studies at a 2007 session International Association for Dental Research (IADR) examine whether whitening can damage the structure of...

Re: Debanding Fears and What you Did - Anyone push back date
thank you both! I think your insight is dead on. The midline I can live with I think, not sure if I'm being insane about the leveling in the front (see pic) or if that could be tweaked now. To bullfighter's point, I feel the same way. unlike some others, the time hasn't flown by, as I've been acutel...
