Topic: wisdom teeth extraction necessary?

All four of my wisdom teeth are in. There has never been a suggestion of removing them and I am almost done with treatment. The only person so has said I should consider having them taken out is my hygentist and she said it's simply because she doesn't like cleaning all the way back there. So no I d...

Well, just hang in there. Once my rotation was done, everything seemed to just move so much faster. I made a huge jump in wires and we worked on closing gaps (the gaps had been created to give the tooth room to rotate). Now after 14 months we are correting my midline and settling everything down for...

jcdamon3-sorry to hear about your difficult adjustment. It's hard when you really aren't expecting it. As for the rotation, I had one tooth that was between 90 and 180 degrees rotated. It took about six or seven months for it to come around. But I remember thinking it happened a lot faster than I ex...

Okay, used the cordless Waterpik this morning (since I couldn't use it last night) for the first time. Used the advice of keeping you lips closed and it was great. I used the "gentle jet tip" but it was still pretty strong. Teeth felt pretty good after I was done. My husband (who is not br...

I just got the cordless Waterpik at Target and it was $29.99. I haven't used it yet (it's charging) but I can't wait. Used to use a waterpik when I was a kid and loved it. They are so good at getting the junk out. Can't believe I waited until almost the end of my treatment to get one but I will cont...

I agree with you Mojorisin. I don't think my expectation of what my braces can do are unrealistic. I had no idea what to expect getting braces for the first time but I am happy with my results so far (and I am almost done with treatment). My daughter is getting them in a couple of months and the ort...

I have Damons and love them. The idea that I am not in the orthos office every month is wonderful. And I really do believe that they help your teeth move faster. My original treatment time was 20 months but it has now changed to 16 months!! Plus you have to think that maybe without the tension of th...

I had a similar problem once and when I went in to get the wire cliped the assistant said it moved because the stop (what you referred to as the clip) was not crimped onto the wire tight enough and moved. You should call your ortho and get in to get it fixed. Amy Damon 2's top and bottom braced 12-1...

I'm not a doctor either but I would try to find an orthodontist who uses the Damon System if you are fearful of the palate expander. Many times when Damon braces are used there is no need for an expander. They also work a little faster and are smaller. You would also have fewer adjustments during yo...

Yeah, I've got the feeling the tiebacks are to kind of settle the teeth in and get it all set in place. Really hoping that when I go back in 8 weeks we'll be done. When I asked back in January how much longer the ortho thought I had he said 3 months so that would put it just about right. Keeping my ...

My husband and I talked about it a lot last night. He thinks we should go with my ortho who wants to start treatment now. Like your ortho. he also has his own lab and I just really trust him, especially after what he has done with my teeth. I am going to talk with our dentist next month before I set...

Yup, my top front teeth pop and I am always pushing on them to get them to pop. And ever since I got rubber bands I find myself playing with them. Kind of embarrassing when you are doing it in public and you don't even realize you are doing it!!

Well, we went to see ortho number 3 today, this is actually the guy we saw last year who said he didn't want to do anything yet and he'd see her in a year. He said the same thing again today. So now I have two orthos saying do nothing, one of which wants to see her in 6 months and one is a year and ...

something out, something in

Had an adjustment this morning. Finally had all four springs removed (they were put in back in October to close up all my little spaces). That was such a nice feeling. Downside is now I have what the ortho called "tie backs" in now. Pretty much in the same place as the springs except they ...

I just got mine at the beginning of January and was told at that same visit that I have about 3 months left until debanding. So I am assuming that I will have them for the remainder of my treatment. I have an adjustment next week so well see what the ortho says than. Amy Damon 2's top and bottom bra...
