tarnish on teeth from braces
I have a grey tarnish on my teeth. It started about two weeks after my braces were put on. It reminds me of the grey stuff you get on your arm if you are allergic to a watch. Anyone else have this?

Hi Chris1960 I've had my braces on for a month now and I too am feeling like I'll never get used to them. I wish I could go a day without thinking about them but it hasn't happened yet. I feel and think about the all day. How do you stop? Even when I'm busy I feel them there. I'm having a hard hard ...

Thanks for your help guys. Brandi, how long have you had your braces on? I think I was probably the worst case in my orthos office. I actually went to the bathroom and cried before they braced me, and I experienced anxiety for the next two weeks. On Sunday it will be three weeks for me. I'm not real...

I've been in braces now for 2.5 weeks. I feel like I'm gradually getting used to them, but do you get to a point where you're not always thinking about them or always aware of them? Is that normal at first? This morning when I brushed my teeth I notice a grey colored stuff on my upper front teeth, I...

I had TMJ problems and wore a occlusal splint for six months before my braces (four days ago). The splint helped move my jaw back into it's position. It took a bit to get used to. When I was done with the splint I could only bite down with my back teeth, which is why over time my jaw moved forward t...

Welcome Jaws I was braced four days ago. I'm finding the best advice is to swish with salt water. I do it a couple times a day and I'm on day four and not one sore. Try to relax on brace day. It takes time to get used to the brackets, but I'm finding each day I'm a little more accustomed to them. I ...

how are brackets taken off?
for those of you who have had your braces taken off, how are the brackets removed? A friend told me they just pinch the bracket and it comes off, is this true?

Hi Jendz, This is day three for me in braces. I hope the spacers go okay for you. I hear they are the worst part of the journey so that will be over for you soon. Yesterday the inside of my mouth was sore from rubbing but I've been doing the salt water rinse and today I'm okay - no soreness, just my...

Thanks you guys, it helps to hear others say it gets better, I'll hang on to that. It's day three now, I'm still sore, my front teeth are the worst but thats where the most movement is happening and I can only touch my back teeth together anyway. I feel somewhat shy opening my mouth in public, I hop...

second day in braces
I had my braces put on yesterday. It was definately not an easy thing for me to do, I was filled with anxiety about it and nearly left the office. The ortho's assistant was very kind and helped talk me through it. I'm sore today and feeling very tired, and even flu like, I'm not sure this is from be...

Hi Kathy, I actually had my first records done five years ago - that's how long it has taken me to make this commitment. This year I finally decided it's all or nothing, either I'm going to do this and not think about it any more, or I'm not going to this. So I took the plunge, however before I coul...

Hi Mary Nice meeting you. How did you feel at first with your braces on, were you nervous about talking in public? I'll post some before and after pictures soon. My ortho gave me a Nov 2 appointment but it also might be October 14 if they have an opening. Sometimes I'm excited, sometimes I'm quite a...
