Hi, Am will be joining the club tomorrow. :yikes: I have read up as much as I can about tpas, on this site and elsewhere, hoping to get rid of the fear. I am pretty cool with the braces - I think - but am still freaked about the tpa. I have a really sensitive gag reflex and am really, really, really...

My ortho allows you to pay in quarterly installments over the whole treatment, slightly loaded at the front. so I will be paying mine off over 18 months.

Hope your appointment went ok. I have had 3 (supposed to be 4) spacers in for 5 days. They are totally not a problem. Teeth just feel a bit tender when eating, but I have been trying to eat softer food for the first few days. Once you get used to it, you just start to think - ok I coped with that, w...

Thanks KK. Feel such a fool not knowing these things, but I guess this is the first time for me and everything is new.

This site is great. Learning about everything really takes away a lot of the fear.

I am due to get a TPA on 18th Oct as part of my treatment. I am really freaked about it. I have read all the posts/threads on TPAs and it seems like a lot of people have real problems with them. The pictures look like it is a smooth piece of wire quite that fits quite close to the palate, but it see...

Your teeth look fantastic. You have made great progress. It is brilliant that you have even forgotten about having braces.

Hope my treatment is as rapid as yours.

Spacers question

I visited the ortho last week to have upper impressions made for my palate expander. He temporarily fitted molar clamps before he took the impressions and then said he was going to fit elastics to the back teeth. I thought this sounded odd as I don't have braces fitted yet, so I asked if these would...

Yipee, it is over. I had my extraction at lunchtime today. My dentist is sooooooooooooooooo good. First he put anaesthetic gel along the gum and then injected really slowly, took at least 2 minutes and I didn't feel a thing (and I am needle phobic). Was pratling away like mad. Tooth came out very ea...

I am getting my lower 2nd premolar out today. Was very anxious yesterday, so saw my osteopath to do some relaxation stuff - as neck, shoulders and jaw very tense. Also been taking homoepathic remedy aconite, which seems to have worked wonders and I had the best night's sleep ever last night. :banana...

Thanks everyone for the update :) . I think I was also tending towards ceramic uppers and metal lowers, anyway, as you can't see my lowers unless I do a really big grin  . Not that I think I am bothered about seeing metal on top either really, as reading a lot of the posts here, it seems t...

Do you get to keep your teeth

I have an extraction next Thursday to start my treatment. Yikes!! :yikes: Question :Questions: in uk do they let you keep the teeth?? :) not being gruesome, but after 44 years feel a bit attached to them! Also planning to get scale and polish while the anaesthetic injection is working. Is this a goo...

That is ok if your ortho has recommended a particular plan, but what do you do if you are given a choice, and left to made that choice by the ortho?? :Questions: How have other people decided on what to do?? Especially how did you choose whether to have ceramic lowers if there was a chance of them h...

I am going through the same process. I don't have to decide until the day before I get braced (18th Oct), but it feels like I have to make a decision without full knowledge of how my teeth will move and interact throughout the whole treatment, and you can't really change your mind afterwards. :? It ...
