13 months in Damon 3's upper and lower with questions???
Hi -- I tried to search to see if these questions have been answered, but it didn't work. So, if someone has addressed this before, I apologize in advance. First of all, I have been wearing my elastics for Class II (overbite and about a 6 mm overjet) non-stop 24/7 since March. My ortho hinted at the...

Welcome Latte, I too in the 50 plus club. I've been in Damon 3 braces (all metal) since September 2007. It's been quite a ride...most days are pretty good. I generally forget about them until I see someone I haven't run into for a while, then I find myself getting self-conscious and making excuses. ...

Don't put it off!
At 54 years of age I can tell you your bite and teeth problems will get worse as you get older. I really didn't have major cosmetic issues with my smile either, but the bite was off causing TMJ issues. Incidently, I've had those issues since my late teens, but the problem would subside for a while a...

Good for you.
I am 54 and have been in braces since September 2007. I am now wearing elastics and trying to put them on without shooting them across the room.
It's amazing how many other similiar aged people are wearing braces. And more power to us. It is never too late for self improvement of any kind!

Hi, I discussed this once shortly after I was first braced...end of September. I too thought it was shadows, or that I was being too obsessed with my mouth. But, my ortho assistant told me that I had a lot of the glue(?) left on my teeth. (I have Damon 3's) If you run your tongue around the edge of ...

Hi, I too had ramps built on my back molars. That is to keep your top teeth from knocking the brackets off of the bottom teeth--at least that's what I remember. I'm sure if I'm not correct, someone else will post and let you know! It felt really weird for a bit, but you'll get used to it. I've been ...

Another 50 plus braced face.
I am going to change my photo-Guess you don't realize how many creepy people are out there waiting to prey on the naive?
At any rate, just wanted to join the "it's never too late" cheer.
By the way, Rhonda. Your smile's looking great. Lucky you, no metal soon.

Soda paste.
I took advice from my mom and made a soda paste yesterday. I used it around each bracket with the little brush and then used my Sonicare. I think it helped a bit. Yes, I'm sure it's not your teeth that are yellowing, it is the glue! I'm thinking it will wear off with daily cleaning and visits to the...

3 days in my Damon 3's and my teeth are also looking yellow.
I really noticed it a lot today...pretty depressing. I can live with the braces, but yellow teeth is a bit much. I'm worried about using white strips...has anyone tried scraping it off? I can feel a dull, veneer over the surfaces...very weird. I do drink coffee and drank some red wine this weekend.....

Thanks Rhonda.
I appreciate the "atta girl!" Yes, I imagine teaching for severals would be daunting...at least I have music breaks to look forward to as well as an "on air" partner to share the load. Yes, I'm already settling in with the new mouth jewelry. I keep thinking of what a gift it is t...

Debbra's story of Damon 3's at 50 something.
After years of wanting braces, I've got them as of noon today. Wonder how I'll feel about them later when the soreness sets in? Or maybe it won't. I will say my mouth feels full of foreign objects. Yikes...my upper lip seems to catch on the top braces. I sure hope that doesn't continue. I have an ov...
