Don't forget too, that for many of us, we're either happier with our new appearance, or at least not unhappy with it. And then there are those among us who are realising benefits beyond a better bite - folks who are either waving goodbye to the obstructive sleep apnea that has plagued them for year...

You know this is exactly how I feel after my surgery. I had upper jaw surgery to correct an underbite as well and I know what you mean. It looks like my face was just pushed forward too far and now my nose sticks out as well. I can feel screws under my eye sockets on one side but not the other... I ...

Mryaten what could happen to the screws and bones? I also smoked marijuana about 3 weeks post-op on a pretty regular basis. I can't believe how ignorant I was and I wonder if any of the damage could be permanent... I saw my os and he said everything is fine, but im not so sure. When i put pressure o...

alcohol and smoking post-op question

I was wondering if smoking or drinking after surgery would have any permanent negative effects? I remember when I had surgery (when I was 16), about 4 days after the surgery i drank some rum out of a straw and smoked several cigarretes. It kind of hurt the inside of my mouth to smoke and I dont know...

A quick question...

I was wondering if for example you had an underbite, but it was really slight... would pulling 2 teeth on the bottom so you have 12 on the bottom and 14 on the top fix it? I asked my ortho about this option before surgery and he said that he didn't want to do it because he couldnt guarantee that my ...

No, they were just regular pictures of my face. I'm not sure if he does this with every patient, since he didn't take any after pictures until I had to get my wisdom teeth pulled, 2 years after my jaw surgery. I'm kind of paranoid about this for some reason. I didn't think anything of it at the time...

I wasn't really sure, the OS didn't mention whether any bone grafting was for cosmetic reasons, only that it had to be done but I'm not so sure. My jaw is so prominent and I look kind of fake. I was about 15 when I went for my consultation and I don't think I asked enough questions, I just accepted ...

before and after photos

I had upper jaw surgery about 2 years ago to fix an underbite. I had one follow up appointment and everything was good. Then about a year after that I was told I needed to get my wisdom teeth pulled. It was done by the same surgeon who did the surgery and he decided to take some pictures, but he nev...

I had upper jaw surgery about 2 years ago to fix an underbite. I had a bone graft from my hip and I was wondering if this was necessary or was it more for a cosmetic reason? I was told it was to make sure the final result would be stable but my cheeks are a lot bigger now and I just look so differen...
