My Gosh! London Lingual appears to have upped their prices since my consultation in 2007. I'm sure these guys are indeed very good, but I found their prices extortionate. I had my £70 consultation there, and was then told I had to pay an extra £200 for moulds and xrays, this is all on top of the Â...

No, I dont know where they are made, but as they dont have to be individually made like incognitos do, I should imagine that most orthos have plenty in stock anyway, and they must be manufactured en masse. I certainly was never told that the quotes for my braces would be affected by the euro. I woul...

Yes, Rolo appears to be right, from reading the website again, he is offering incognito XTC. I dont have these, though I would have liked to, seeing as they are supposedly more comfortable. The ones I have, stb brackets, are not as expensive, but work just as well, and I am totally used to them now....

That's a shame. Would the 7-miles-away ortho not be do-able? A lot of people I know travel quite some way for their ortho, because otherwise they are stuck paying the huge prices of the orthos in their area. They usually end up having appointments on weekends or evenings because of this. Have you tr...

I'm sure he's probably very good, but that seems like extortion. I dont want to persuade you from doing it if you are truly happy with the ortho though. Perhaps if he truly is the only lingual ortho in Manchester, there's no competition, so he can charge what he likes. But surely he cant be the only...

I have linguals (not ibraces) on top and bottom. Like you, I got the bottom set on first. It really did take me a long time to adjust to them, particularly the very last two brackets that poked like mad. I cant quite remember how long it took now, but I think in my case it was the use of metal ligs,...

Ive used both. Brace guard is a little plastic tube, designed to fit over the brackets like a lid of sorts. It clicks on and you can trim it into place, or on one of them you can even make it up yourself. It does work, but spit collects in the tube, and food probably would do as well, so you would h...

That sounds way too much! So doing both would cost you £8000? I wasnt even quoted that at the leading lingual ortho at Harley St London! I have no idea if this exchange rate etc would affect it, but if I was you I would go and get another quote, possibly somewhere outside Manchester city centre if ...

Thanks Koksy. Im really not keen on this gappy look, but im gonna live with it till my next tightening at least, hopefully then my ortho will be closing it anyway. I was just amazed at the speed with which the gap appeared. It was literally hours!!

Megan, I think you should find out what the treatment will entail - i.e. removals, duration etc. I really think it will be majorly, majorly uncomfortable to have lingual brackets on teeth that are set so far into your mouth like that.

I echo what Sonja has said, you will never speak totally normal, but there's a huge difference to how you will speak when you first get them to how you will speak after a day, a week, and a month. And like Sonja says, you will just not care after a while.

You know what, after a few months you wont even care what goes into your mouth. Amazing how u get used to it really. I was oh so catious initially, only daring to eat soup, and only wanting to eat it too. But now, I dont care, munch away on anything, the only annoyance is that it gets stuck in your ...

So far, in 5 months, 5 brackets have fallen off. But I did notice that the ones that fell off were always the ones that were initially applied with trays. When they are replaced manually by the ortho, they seem to stay on (touch wood). It's so annoying when it happens, because I hate that acidic tas...

Get invisalign then - if you can get the results you want, that is. You might as well get both top and bottom done at the same time if possible. If I could have had invisalign then I would have taken it. It took me months to get used to the soreness of linguals on my tongue. Invisalign surely must e...

Thanks Lionfish. The one positive thing is that at least I dont need to floss in between those teeth now. If I did I might need to use a piece of rope!!! I feel I should have been warned about this huge gap. Amazing how it just appeared in a matter of hours!
