No, it was definitely the SonicBrite. Stopped using it and sore throat went away. And I know what an illness feels like.

Thanks for your response.

Extreme throat pain after SonicBrite cleaning

Hi everyone,

I just started using SonicBrite at night, and when I wake up in the morning, my throat hurts so much I can hardly talk. Is this the persulfates bothering me? Or am I possibly not rinsing the retainers enough after the SonicBrite treatment??

Thanks!
Carleen

Absenting some form of absolute anchorage, both the front teeth will tend to move backward and the back teeth forward. Headgear is not the only option - a Nance, or TADs (miniscrew implants) can also serve this role. Yep, I have the mini-screw implants, top & bottom (along with the 4 extracted ...

I didn't mean to imply that was a conversation here. I read it on the web somewhere...

I know exactly what you're going through, and the feeling is absolutely miserable. Someone asked what it was like to eat in braces, and I told them to stick all their silverware in their mouth and then try to chew. And never mind the awful pain the first week! But I promise the pain will end, and yo...

I use the same Vicodin rx you do. If you view my posts, you'll see my first was me ranting about how my ortho wouldn't give me a prescription. Fortunately, my primary care physician was perfectly willing to. She said wasn't at all bothered giving it to me, because if I really wanted to abuse medicat...

I had 4 pre-molars extracted (top & bottom), and insisted on using a surgeon so I could have IV sedation. I was traumatized in the past by an unecessarily painful dental procedure, and now I pay to be totally put out (or at least almost), no matter the price. Depending on the type of work & ...

Oh, I love those things (particularly the grape). I had agonizing pain my first few months of treatment, but if I took pain medicine then gnawed on the wafer for awhile, my teeth felt much, much better. I even wore mine while sleeping (choking hazard??), since I tend to clinch my jaw at night anyway...

I've been wanting to ask about this too. However, my problem is with the gum between the front teeth & the canines. As my bite has retracted, this gum area is becoming more & more, well, bulbous, I guess you could say. The ortho assistant said it would just go away, but it seems to just get ...

Thanks a lot, CNickyD! So are these changes very dramatic or they are actually all subtle changes that you have to pay a lot of attention to notice. And did you notice the change over time or it all come out after the debanding? I'm actually still in braces! My treatment isn't finished until Februa...

My facial features have definitely changed - mostly for the better. I like my nose better (I was considering rhinoplasty!), my frown lines have disappeared, and my mouth looks more "feminine". But facial expressions seem much more exaggerated, so I'm working on controlling them. Overall th...

"drug seeker": That's the term I was looking for! It'd be one thing if I were asking for 30 pills with 4 refills. I told them 10 or 12 is enough to get me through 3 adjustments. If they can still think I'm "drug seeking", then I think that's absurdly cautious and makes them ineff...

Thanks, but he and his partner made their positions very clear today. The only reason I was given for not getting the script was "It's not usual in orthodontia." I didn't mention that I finally got a script from them for (10) Tylenol-3, but was pointedly told to make that last for the rest...

I've done that too, right down to the receptionists! I've complained (politely) to everyone that'll listen.

Thanks. I don't seem calm now, but believe me, I was when we first discussed this. I told him every word I told you, as well as the other doctor in his practice. That was over 6 months ago, which is another reason I'm so angry now - He says he never agreed to give me the Tylenol 3, which he did. I'd...
