I just wanted to add, on the three occasions I didn't wear my retainer at night, I compensated by adding several hours extra wear-time the day after. So I don't *think* this could be due to improper retainer use. Might it be worth asking my ortho about switching to Hawley retainers to stop the upwar...

Teeth migrating even while wearing retainer?

So, I had braces just on my top teeth for a year and a half to bring my canines down into the arch (I think I have before pics on my braces blog that I was too lazy to update along the way lol) as they grew in way high in the gums. Everything was beautiful, and although my teeth will never be "...

B-day on my B-Day

Well.. my DE-brace-day is on my birthday =] I had an appointment yesterday, saw my ortho and then this consultant lady. She gave me two options - prep for getting the braces off now that my teeth are in line and gaps are closed, or "go the extra mile and a half" to build up my small latera...

Almost Finished - Question about Gum Contouring?

Wow. The past year has gone so fast. I'm almost finished with my braces, and I haven't had time to update my B-Blog much. The braces experience has largely been a good one, but I'm looking forward to getting them off... No end date yet but it looks like my gaps are almost entirely closed now and my ...

I haven't found the fixed appliance to be that bad - if you mean standard brackets-and-wires braces. I haven't got anything fancy except for tiebacks and powerchains. Straightforward for me, and I'm glad. So maybe I'm more an exception than a rule. But I love the fixed appliance, and the hygiene thi...

Ahaha no seriously I agree with you! When my teeth get to the point where I can’t feel any of the pressure anymore – usually a week or two so before I’m due for an adjustment – I kind of want to get in there and have it done *now*. More movement prease! Right now for example… I had an adju...

I'm Lovin' Em

Honestly. Just before I got braces, I was a basket case, full of nerves. I had convinced myself it would the single most painful, torturous period of my life. That something would go wrong constantly and I would have to deal with cuts and abrasions and broken wires and brackets popping off. That my ...

Hey guys, thanks for your suggestions. I’ve been trying some Paracetimol + Aspril + Caffeine, and while not amazing, they are helping. I think I might get some cocodamols though, for the first few days after my next adjustment, since the bigger wires and powerchains are proving to be a lot more pa...

Ah, popcorn. Cinema Popcorn is one of my weaknesses, but I haven’t indulged since Brace-day. A couple weeks after I was first braced, I went to see a movie with my aunts and they had popcorn – I tried once piece, let the popcorn itself dissolve – but then was left with a mouthful of the outer ...

Best Painkillers [UK]

Hi hi! I haven't been here in ages, but I'm back so hello!! Anyway, onto the question: I had an adjustment yesterday and have been moved up to a much larger wire now that my teeth are finally in-line, as well as a pair of power-chains. Needless to say, I am in pain. It's mostly a bearable pain that ...

When I first got braces, I had the same problem. Try as I might, I just could not get floss up in there at first. In the end thought, I managed to kind of force it past the molar band so I could floss properly – and since then it’s been a lot easier to floss back there, probably due to minute sh...

I had an adjustment four weeks ago, and my midline was still perfectly aligned at that point. In the past four weeks, though, it has shifted approximately 1mm to the right. So, when I went for my adjustment yesterday, I made a point to bring this to my ortho's attention and asked him point-blank &qu...

I don't think I've ever been embarassed by my braces. I thought I would be, but instead, I've loved them from day one. I've had them for six months now and all my teeth are in line - just working on some gaps and spaces at the moment - and for the first time, I'm giving big toothy grins to the camer...

Welcome to the Brace-Face club! I suppose it’s possible that the moulds might just be as a point of reference to gauge differences against... But, my impressions were taken two weeks before my appointment to get braced [there was some confusion about that, and I would up getting spacers for two we...

Wow, sorry there have been no updates for about a thousand years. I’ve got some new photos to upload when I get home and hopefully my internet access will be working… I’ve been having problems getting on several websites for some reason, but I *think* that’s all sorted out. Anyway, rather th...
