The difference already is amazing. I will post some post op pics tomorrow. It looks like my nose seems to have moved slightly and my chin has come forward. When they took my splint out and showed me in the mirror I nearly cried :0)

I'd hoped I would have had some encouragement etc from other users but hey ho. In case anyone else is going through the same thing, that day was the worst i've had and things are looking and feeling a lot better so hang in there. Day 3 is the worst.

Not been on here for ages but I am now suffering :( I had a "bimaxillary osteotomy" and "mandibular midline split" carried out on 30/04 and I must say I feel like crap, I just want to cry. I can only "eat" liquids through a syringe about 5ml at a time and the same to &q...

I have sensitive teeth and use Colgate Sensitive every time I brush, it seems to be getting a bit better. My ortho suggested instead of rinsing my mouth with water after brushing to just leave the paste in my mouth (obviously spit out a couple of times) as this keeps the flouride etc. on the teeth f...

I haven't had any crisps since my brackets were fitted and I really want some now but don't know if I can be bothered with the cleaning afterwards. I am a huge biscuit fan and have managed to eat a few packs already. mmmmmmm Malted Milk biscuits and of course sweetmeal digestives :D 8) I started off...

I'm starting to think that living in the UK is actually a good thing now :D . I've been told that my treatment would cost well over £10k including surgery but luckily because it is necessary, I dont have to pay anything (thank god for the NHS)

I had them fitted too, in a strange way I thought it felt nice to bite down on things (I even got a teething ring    )

It will get better after a few days.

Numb teeth

Hello,

I'm 2 weeks into my treatment and since about day 2, my bottom front (don't know the proper name) teeth feel numb.

Is this normal?

Thanks

My decision was made for me really, if I didn't do it, I would be in trouble later on in life as my back teeth are being worn down due to an open bite.

Thanks for the comments guys. 3 days in and I'm just about eating normally (although very slowly) It's amazing that I have to actually encourage myself to eat as I just can't be bothered with all the hassle of eating slowly then the cleaning afterwards but I'm getting used to it. Only 2 years minimu...

I had spacers fitted for a week and to be totally honest they didn't hurt that much, more annoying than painful. As other have said it feels like there is some food stuck between your teeth.
