My dentist said it is a Mucousyl. (sp?)
He said not to worry about it and to try avoid hitting it. He also said it should go away once my braces are taken off and if it doesn't go away, then he will remove it.
Thanks for all the help!!

Hmm, thanks for all the advice! I have been trying to convince my mother, (I am only 14!) to call the dentist, but she just seems to act like the sore is no problem. She keeps telling me to keep using wax. I might have to end up making an appointment! But so far, the sore is looking much better! I h...

I'm with Jennie.....I've had canker sores all my life and they are usually more like a hole...some have swelling around the hole, but never did they stick out like that. And they usually last 1-2 weeks and go away. I usually get a series of them, but individual ones don't last for months...ever. I ...

Ok, I am going to start posting images of the progress. I won't do one everyday, only when it changes. This picture is after I put salt on it yesterday, used wax, and just finished rinsing hydrogen peroxide about 10 minutes ago. I may give my dentist a call. I have been wearing wax at night due to it not falling off, but this morning it hurts terribly even with the wax on. I could careless about the pain though, it is just the fact that it is annoying being there! I am about to go buy a hydrogen peroxide bottle and start us...

My tips would be to continue with the wax, pay attention to hydration, and try hydrogen peroxide/water rinses several times per day. You might also minimise/avoid acidic foods and drinks, and consider changing to a toothpaste that does not contain sodium lauryl sulphate (a common foaming agent) Bey...

Non-healing canker sore!
So I have had this canker sore for 2 months now. I asked my ortho and they told me to wear wax and to stop sucking on it. I have done both and I have even tried canker patches but none seem to work. The smallest it has gotten to was barely visible but now it is fully grown! I have taken a picture of...

Re: Elastics question..
Hi, I went for my first adjustment today and I got elastics, I have to wear them 24/7. I was wondering though, if I removed them when I go on nights out with my friends, for say 10ish hours about once a week, would this delay the process majorly or just a bit? I know that I wont be comfortable or e...

How long do you continue to use wax after the sore has healed? On those rare occasions where I had sores, I found that I needed to continue to use wax for at least a couple of days after the sore seemed to be completely healed, since the new tissue apparently tends to be more delicate. I kept wax o...

Class II malocclusion means that your top molars are in front of the corresponding lower molars instead of just behind them as they should be in an ideal occlusion. There is a pic here http://www.unc.edu/depts/appl_sci/ortho/introduction/angles.html which shows what I mean. A class II is often coup...
