Here's what I like about my self-ligating brackets: (For the record, everything stated is my opinion only - except if noted that it is my ortho's - and based solely on my limited experience.) I've had very little pain overall in the week since bonding. (But that could just be me.) I like that they a...

carolEEna - Yes, I have been doing the salt water rinses, mainly just at night before bed and right after I get up in the morning (when it feels like the brackets are sunk into my cheeks). And yeah, it has helped. I dunno if that's why I haven't had a lot of pain or sores, or just luck on my part a...

I consider it a duty for forum members to ensure (to the best of their ability) that any information they pass on is correct and not misleading to newer members who might not be as well informed. Oh, I agree completely. I have no problem with that. That's why if someone comes on asking about Damons...

carolEEna - Good luck tomorrow! I think my lips are actually bigger. Just a little swollen. And I've got a raw patch - not quite a sore - on my lower one near where some of the brackets rub. I'm all the time readjusting how my lips sit over the brackets, so consequently they're getting chapped. I b...

Thanks, embrace , missnomer , ilovemacs , kittymeow , and Kara ! :rose: I do feel lucky that things have gone so smoothly. But I've also always been one with a high tolerance for pain, so I think that plays a big part. Today is my first day without wax or painkillers, so we'll see how it goes. It st...

Here I am at day 3... I broke down and put on wax this morning. My cheeks were starting to become more than just slightly irritated. Waxed my upper canines and first bicuspids, and my lower bicuspids (both). Ahhh, sweet relief. Other than that, though, I'm starting to not feel the braces anym...

And the follow-up from Day 2: I still have had very little pain. I woke up this morning and couldn't even feel the braces until I thought about it. It got a little worse when I got up, but a couple Tylenol took care of that right away. We all went to McDonald's for breakfast, and I ate pancakes and ...

Thanks everyone!!!!! :-#) Didn't get a chance to sit down at the computer very long yesterday, so it's a little late but here's how it went down: I showed up a couple minutes late for my 9 am appointment (oops!) but I'd called ahead so they knew I was coming. When I got there I followed advice and w...

Welcome, gabbajabba (fun name)! :-1 To answer your question, browneyedgrl , I'm here! B-day today and so far so good. It's been about 12 hours and I've got practically no irritation and no pain. *knocks wood* Gonna go brush and try to floss for the first time, then I'll come back and upda...

That said - and certainly the goal of any orthodontic treatment is equivalent, stable results no matter the kind of brackets used - I will pitch in and say my ortho is very keen on Damons, especially for adults. It's not so much the end result (same) as the getting there ( potentially easier). I hav...

Yesterday I had a dentist appointment for cleaning and a possible filling, to make sure everything was ready for b-day tomorrow. As it turns out, I didn't need any new fillings. *whew!* We discussed replacing my old amalgams with the new white composite, but my dentist said wait until the braces com...
