I have visited another ortho. They all go the same way pretty much... I'm basically handing out $150 a pop to hear the same information. My insurance will not cover this type of surgery. End of story. I'm seriously wondering if these referrals are simply one doctor looking out for another doctor's b...

There are no anatomical anomalies with my bite. No digestive issues, no pain, no dental issues. None. I brought up my age simply because the decision to do surgery at this point would be more for cosmetics than anything else. Dropping $40K , or changing the characteristics of my face after all these...

What would you do?

I'm coming to the end of my orthodontic treatment (2 years). The results have been great. I went in with a class III underbite and now miraculously have a normal overjet WITHOUT surgery, however, my bite is not "perfect" as per my orthodontist so he wants me to do several consultations wit...

I guess that bit of information puts it all in perspective now. Thanks. I know my ortho is working in my best interest, I just don't want all decisions to be centered around aesthetics, ya know?

I wouldn't be too quick to be angry at your ortho. I expect he thought he would have a tough time obtaining a stable long-term result with the wisdom teeth still in there. Did you ask if there were any functional reasons to remove the teeth? SirWired Sorry about the delay. My ortho sited two reason...

My underbite was corrected and/or tremendously improved before extractions. This is the first time in 34 years I have experienced an overjet/natural bite. I don't have pictures that will show the results. I can assure you that the improvement is encouraging. If I can avoid jaw surgery that is awesom...

That only makes sense. Removing healthy teeth and providing more room for the other teeth to shift over the years will occur. That seems basic to me. That's why I'm pissed. They were in there for a reason. I think removing wisdom teeth is a huge money generator. Simple and plain.

My ortho had me removed 4 perfectly good wisdom teeth!

And I'm kind of upset. Prior to getting treatment, I had a Class III underbite. Since treatment, my ortho has corrected my bite without jaw surgery, so kudos to him. It's actually amazing how my jaw went from an underbite to and overjet. He recommended that I removed all perfectly health wisdom teet...

The tooth is a lateral incisor (upper). No filling. The tooth is a bit stubborn but isn't crooked or out of place in relation to the other teeth. Anyway, my ortho decided to ban my tooth to avoid the same thing from occurring. We'll see what the results are. Not as pleasing to look at, but at this p...

The same bracket on the same tooth popped off yet again today. I am having no issue with any of my other teeth. Why is this? I cannot keep running to my ortho every 7 days to get this lig reattached. This is absolutely crazy to me. My ortho is offering no other solution other than to keep trying. Am...

Thanks guys/gals for your input. I'm a bit fed up but feel more at ease knowing others have been through similar experiences. I anticipate my ortho, who is a great ortho, by the way, doing something to counter this issue.

Please forgive my french: I'm getting pissed off!!!!!!!!!!

There is one tooth in my mouth that will not allow the lig to stay attached. I have had this one bracket replaced twice thus far and it keeps coming unattached. I just got it replaced yesterday and guess what? Its coming off once again. I am becoming a problem patient for my ortho and the thought of...

Go to Walmart or similar store and get a Braun. The prices and models vary but you will love it. Check their site, too. I've had mine for 8 years and have had zero problems. Just change the brushes when the die begins to fade and you're good.
