I've now finished the initial round of trays and had my impressions for my revisions taken today. I'm much happier with my teeth than I was when I started, though my bite is still off and the bottom teeth are very slightly crooked (hence the revisions). It's really satisfying to have the attachments...

Thanks! I feel like as one of the long-termers in the trays, it's helpful for me to speak up about the experience of doing a *lot* of time in them. As for the back teeth, yes, I think they were moved forward, though I had a lot of crowding in the front (esp on bottom) so some of the gap was closed f...

Sooooo embarrassingly enough, I found out today (after TWO YEARS) that I in fact have more upper trays than lower trays, rather than the other way around. So I actually have 47U/42L and have been reading the tray cases wrong the whole time. I saw my ortho today, and both she and the assistant commen...

Flossing problem
So, due to a broken arm, I can't floss for a few weeks. Obviously, this is a problem - normally I'd blow it off, but I worry about the germs being trapped in my trays. What should I do? Rinse with a lot of Listerine?

Hmm, I'm not sure how big my gaps were. I'd guess they were at least 6mm though? Invisalign does have trouble closing gaps; I haven't had as much as some have. Honestly, at this point, it feels like it's taking longer than it should - my bottom gaps are almost gone, but my top gaps still have probab...

I'm one of the people who had extractions (four of them, actually) and no one ever noticed the gaps. Not even my housemates, not even my parents (who knew I had them done). Or, at least, no one said anything. But I think they probably really weren't noticeable - it's not like someone's looking for i...

Tray 35 update: HOLY GOD THIS TRAY HURTS. It's actually only the lower tray that's bad, but it's been over 24 hours and it's still actively tender (normally I only feel it at this point when removing and inserting the trays). Here's hoping tomorrow feels better. I also got my two (small) cavities fi...

An update: I went to the dentist this morning, they did a cleaning and x-rays, and it sounds like I have two small cavities - one in the tooth I suspected, and another one on the other side of my mouth. The dentist said they were pretty new and probably not a big deal; I'm going back next week to ge...

Thanks for the replies, guys! I've got my fingers crossed that it's just an Invisalign-related uptick in sensitivity, or a small cavity. The sensitivity seems to have increased slightly - like for maybe 2 or 3 seconds now instead of 1 or 2 - but I've got an appointment with a dentist (a new one, as ...

Tooth sensitivity to cold
I know this is a question better answered by a dentist or orthodontist, but it's after hours, so I thought I'd sound this out here until I can call tomorrow: When I changed two trays ago - so about 3 or 4 weeks ago, I started having temperature sensitivity with my back-most top left molar. It mostly...

I don't believe there are any set criteria, but there are certain things that Invisalign doesn't do as well, like correcting bite problems. I'm one of the people who had four extractions; my ortho would have preferred traditional braces but gave the OK for Invisalign when I made it clear that I had ...

It'll vary how long it will take the extraction gap to close. I had four extractions done (all four premolars behind the canines) and mine still aren't closed on tray 32, though they're getting close. I imagine with only one tooth gone it'll depend. In the meantime, though, your ortho will be able t...

I'm doing Invisalign with the expectation that I'll be in fixed braces for a bit at the end (though I've got my fingers crossed that everything can be fixed with refinements). My projected treatment time and cost was virtually the same for Invisalign and fixed braces, so I figured the opposite of th...
