it's funny how people react, wife's idea to get them, but my mom and others say what are you crazy, you don't need braces...
they didn't try to talk me out of it other than saying it's a waste of money.

I'm glad that i got them.

I took two months and 4 orthos before I was ready to choose one.
Two offered damons and I did go with those. I thought Damons big selling point was that you didn't have to remove teeth.
Don't go into a rushed office I wouldn't like that kind of place.

Looks like tomorrow is the big B day. Good luck.

My ortho had a contract ready to be signed on my B day. It spelled everything out as we discussed spread over 20 months no interest.

Got mine last week and was really looking forward to getting them.
They said 1.5 hours and it was more like 2.5 but not a problem.
Only issue I have is the time it takes to clean after eating a meal, but it is getting better each day.

Good Luck and enjoy.

When seeing people should I bring up the subject? New braces

I'm proud of my new braces, is that weird?

Anyway, when meeting up with casual acquaintances should I mention my braces, they do notice but don't say anything.

With close friends I do bring up the subject.

Thanks, I had a good first few days eating, had pasta, chicken pot pie and shepards pie, so now I feel I can eat normal foods.
But boy does the cleaning ever take along time. I'm getting better every time but that was one thing that I overlooked when planning on getting braces.

Thanks for the replies.
I do wear a full face helmet for BMX, I don't think MTB-ers would laugh, they would probably thinks it's a good idea, they do offer lots of protection. I will have to look into getting a mouth guard. Did you get a do it yourself or have a dentist make one?

Sailing and biking with braces

I don't expect any problems but I race BMX, roadbikes and mountain bikes, and I do crash every now and then.

I also race sailing catamarans so I'm pretty active so my question is has anyone had any problems due to sports?

Hello, new here.

I just got my damon braces today, along with turbos and elastics which I wasn't expecting.

I am excited and looking forward to a better smile.

Oh yea, I'm 50, and never had braces before.

So I had a hot dog for lunch any good meal ideas out there?
