Extremely sensitive teeth!

Hi Everyone, I had my debonding on 4/20 and since then have been experiencing extreme sensitivity with all of my teeth whenever I eat anything cold or acidic (e.g. pineapple). I at first was using my ortho fluoride rinse every night and that wasn't helping, so I bought some Sensodyne toothpaste and ...

I had a hawley my first go-around with braces and I remember the wire being snug against all of the teeth that it wrapped around. It should be snug, the purpose of it is to keep those teeth from moving back to an undesired position. And the plastic palate part should be snug behind the teeth too for...

Don't worry, just don't let your ortho take them off if you still need changes to be made. I learned that the hard way, now I see things that I wanted changed but it's too late now. You are the patient/customer and you are the one paying for the service. Get them off when you are ready, not a day ea...

Thanks MrMetalMouth and congrats on getting yours off too! And thanks for your help too finball! :) I'm still getting headaches, but the tooth sensitivity is slowly getting better. And my gums aren't bleeding, except when I floss, but I expect them to toughen up in a few weeks since I wasn't flossin...

Thanks for the advice on the retainer, I will try to be careful with mine! I have been using the fluoride rinse the ortho prescribed with braces and that seems to be slowly helping with the sensitivity. (He told me to use it post-braces.) Still having the headaches though, I am concerned that the ty...

That's not normal. If it is making a sore on your gums, you need to go in and have it adjusted. (Or maybe you already have.) Good luck!

Hi finball, I have been talking to you in my other thread. I only have the upper essix and I cannot even close my teeth all the way with that. It's normal from what I have read online, the ortho just needs to keep a close eye on the bite from what I have read (makes sense since the retainers don't a...

Thanks! Congrats on getting yours off too! I have a lower bonded retainer so that is saving me from having to wear a lower retainer, I guess I am thankful for that. My ortho didn't really say anything about things begin sensitive or gums being shocked, wish he would have. My gums were ble...

I guess I did get lucky! I can't imagine wearing this bulky essix retainer for 24 hours a day...plus it hurts, but maybe that will go away since I only got my braces removed yesterday.

What type(s) of retainer(s) do you have finnball?

Retainer wear time?

Hi Everyone,

I'm just wondering what everyone was told on their retainer wear time. I just found out that I'm supposed to wear my upper clear (essix) retainer for 16 hours per day for a year and then every night after that first year is up.

What have you been told? :?:

Thanks!

De-braced yesterday, questions about pain and polishing

Hi Everyone, I was de-braced yesterday after having my braces on since 10/07. I have a couple of questions. Has anyone else had tooth pain (sensitivity to cold and generally achey) after having their braces removed? I have a clear upper retainer that I'm supposed to wear 16 hours a day (haven't been...

Greetings everyone; re-braced at 39 : )

Hello Everyone, I have found so much helpful information on here, thank you! :-1 I am a 39 year-old mother of 2 who just had Damon braces put on on October 17, 2007. I originally had braces put on when I was in 7th grade. They had extracted all 4 second bicuspids at the time because my "mouth w...
