Re: Second Adjustment/First Real Adjustment
My last adjustment I had the bottom wire installed and it was 3 weeks later from my bonding date. They told me at my next adjustment I will be getting a "stronger" wire on the top and a chain elastic on the bottom. Will the chain elastic hurt a lot? They will be used to close my extractio...

Is this normal? It's pretty scary! I will be calling my ortho first thing tomorrow morning. I think it is normal ...

not as bad as I thought
Got my braces December 2007 and I cannot believe it will be a full year soon. They will come off in March 2009. My teeth are looking fabulous. I am really excited. My bottom teeth were very crooked and within 3 months looked perfect. It has not been half as bad as I thought. I thought braces would c...

Anyone have their brackets changed? advice please
I got my braces last week and am still excited about them, however, I fear in my enthusiasm I made a mistake. At the last minute, I had them change and put all gold braces, brackets, wires on me. Now I am regretting it. I wish I had stuck with my original plan to do clear on the top. I just saw a gi...

Sorry, your post was from back in September. I just figured that out. Glad to read your update that you just got your braces. I got mine a couple days ago so I could learn to talk over break. We go back to school on 1/7/07 so I have a little time to adjust. So much for eating holiday goodies, though...

Going for the gold! I just got my braces and went all GOLD!
Well, they are finally on! Got them this morning at 9:00am. I am so excited. I was scheduled for clear on top and metal on bottom. But when I saw my tech's beautiful platinum/gold braces and how "invisible" they looked, I decided to go for it and got platinum/gold on upper and lower. My bo...

I had the same teeth extracted on only the lower left. I am preparing for implants after braces, but for now, I have no lower left molars ( both were taken out) . I do have them on the right . Anyhow, my ortho does not use the bands around the back teeth... huh. I thought that was wierd , but I have...

Congrats. I , too, just got my braces today. My parents could not afford them. I am 36 and so happy to be finally able to do this. I have saved enough to pay off the treatment, but am holding off and will just pay monthly. ( In case I move or something) . I am a middle school teacher and I came to s...

I am getting my braces Friday morning and am getting the ceramic with no ligature. My ortho said the small amount of wire would be covered by my arch wire. (sorry if my lingo is not right yet). I am/was extremely worried about staining because I love my coffee and red wine. Now I am wondering if I s...

Hi Kate, Congrats on your braces. I get mine on 12/21...whoo-hoo. I am a runner and cyclist. Hopefully I can learn some tips from the replies to your post. I never thought the running could create rubbing. Maybe I will be cycling more. My boyfriend had braces from age 37-40. He ran 4 marathons durin...

Should I go to work after I get my braces put on???
I am getting my braces on December 21. I am a teacher and wanted to come to school after to see my students before holiday break. My principal said I might be really sore, though, and might be uncomfortable. I would be working from 11am -4pm. What do you think? I don' tmind starting my vacation a da...

whoo-hoo I am finally getting braces at 36!!!
I am so encouraged by this site! I am finally able to afford braces at the age of 36 and couldn't be more excited. I set the date with my ortho today- Jan 3rd. ( sooner if I can get an appt with my general dentist). Thanks to everyone who wrote and posted things to help me in my decision. I was hopi...
