I think as long as your job doesn't involve a lot of talking you should be fine to go back to work. Otherwise if you need/should go back in then take some pain killer and have wax ready and it shouldn't be a big deal. I took the day off after getting my braces but I really didn't need to. It was the...

Jennamac, I got my braces put on the same day you did and I'm feeling a lot of the same things you are. I'm trying to have a very positive outlook on it and have fun with it. But there are times that I find myself holding back from smiling like I normally would because of the braces. I know I'll get...

Welcome! I just got my braces on the day before you. I had the same thing of feeling like my mouth was forever going to feel awful, but then yesterday and today I started feeling notably better. Hopefully this trend continues and VERY soon I won't have any more major discomfort any more. :) Congrats...

Archwire Configuration - What does this do?
When I got my braces put on this Wednesday the ortho bent the archwire towards my gums by my upper and lower canines. In the flurry of everything going on I forgot to ask what purpose these bends in the archwire serve. Anyone have any ideas? Below is a photo of what I'm talking about. http://img166....

Visible Bracket Glue
The glue used to hold my braces on seems to extend out a bit around the brackets on some of my teeth. While this doesn't seem that odd to me, when I look at my teeth I have a hard time telling the glue apart from bad things like food and plaque. Does this glue wear off? I'm guessing not... Has anyon...

With my spacers I found that I messed with them a whole lot and that REALLY increased my soreness in my whole mouth. Even on teeth that shouldn't have been impacted by the spacers. For me I finally got some relief after I started keeping my teeth apart when I was idle and tempted to chew on/mess wit...

I'm sure I'll keep coming up with additional questions as the day progresses, but here goes... So how bad is the staining with things like tea, soda, ketchup and tomato sauces? I can handle giving up tea and soda while I have braces, but it will be MUCH harder for me to give up tomato based sauces. ...

Thanks everyone for your prompt replies! I've definitely been reading about ceramic and metal for some time now and continue to be indecisive. :-) The theme I'm starting to see is that many people got ceramic to be discreet initially but eventually went with colors (thus removing the subtle aspect o...
