I removed my labret years ago, because I didn't want to damage my teeth. They don't need *any* help, there! I have a tiny, tiny little circle for a scar. It's really only noticeable to me. I had a tongue piercing as well, for about 8 years. My understanding of how it tends to wear your teeth is exac...

I had a great deal of pain in the first several months of my treatment. It's gotten a LOT better, 8 months in, but I needed vicoprophen (5mg hydrocode, 200mg ibuprofen) plus 400mg of ibuprofen intermittently for those first few months. First, Please be careful when mixing medications. Vicodin has hy...

I'm with Platinum. My lowers were braced first due to severe overcrowding. The right half is almost straight, now. But there is still some movement necessary before two of my lowers will be looped onto the archwire. I've had them for 4 months today! I was told my uppers will be put on in July. Which...

I have the same problem. Unfortunately, I have not had a complete resolution. on the tongue side of the I do, however, have one trick that works really well for when it's so irritated I have a trench in my cheek... Because the wires don't hold wax very well by themselves, I ball up a piece of wax to...

Hi Suetemi! I have two wedges and I will probably end up with more before I am finished. I know that mine are for turning the teeth. My lowers are turned every which way. My dentist put wedges on, and one of those teeth is now flush with the archwire, and the other is well on its way. For the record...

Here's my two cents, based on what you said... If the cause is actually that your skin was stretched over your teeth and your teeth are no longer pushing on the skin, creating a sag, consider this... I have a friend who had gastric bypass a few years ago. At the time, she was around 300 pounds. In t...

Mine doesn't have any incentive program, either...not just for ortho treatment. BUT they do have a deal where if you refer someone, you can put your card into a little bowl and you can win a vacation to Mexico, or something. I think it's maybe a timeshare and plane tickets. I'm not sure. I *do* howe...

I have had rpe's top and bottom since last September. I was braced on my lowers about two months ago. Talking with the rpe *will* get easier! Eventually, you will notice that there is little difference from the way you used to speak. Others won't notice at all! I enunciate very carefully (I did befo...

I, too am curious about the first question, as I lost one of my molars about 8 years ago after a failed root canal. That empty section of gum is much narrower than the rest of my gums. I know the tooth in front of it needs to come back into that space. I'm afraid it's not going to be enough tissue/b...

You should definitely talk to your ortho if you have questions. Whether or not they tell you anything is dependent on the particular ortho. I have had to ask my ortho everything, and I still come up with questions after every visit (and often after visits to these boards). Depending on how you respo...

tylenol/acetaminophen
Be careful with Tylenol, though. You shouldn't take more than 4000 milligrams in a 24 hour period. It's *very* hard on the liver.

I have two, four link powerchains on either side of my mouth on my bottom brackets. They were replaced at my first adjustment yesterday. They are both working to move my teeth toward the back of my mouth because of the crowding up front. The one on the right has the extra purpose of attempting to tu...
