I know you are glad its over! Day 2 was the worst for me. I wish you enjoyable smoothies (eggnog smoothies . . . yum!) and a speedy recovery.

I'm glad you sound like you are feeling pretty well. You should be feeling more and more "normal" every day now.

Take care!

Numbness on roof and gums after LeForte I

Hey all! I've been gone for some time - traveled all summer and started a PhD program in Aug. - which kept me unbelievably busy! But winter break is here so I thought I'd check in. I still have lots of numbness on the roof of my mouth and upper gums, following my April 2008 upper jaw surgery (LeFort...

Hey all! I am a speech language pathologist, and I had a LeForte I done in April. The primary reasons for the surgery was that I had developed a lisp due to jaw joint degeneration, which caused a very open bite, and lip incompetence. The lisp completely went away after surgery. A lisp when you are a...

Just saw my OS, and at, what 7 weeks post-op, he said I should still expect some "settling" of my bite as I continue to heal. It has improved since I last posted. And he said he expected really good contact in all back teeth in a few more weeks. (without rubber bands, as I'm not in braces)...

Thanks for your posts!! Actually, Andi, I was not in braces this time around. Had them when I was a teenager, and they pretty much straightened everything out. My current anterior open bite (actually now "former anterior open bite") began 3 years ago, when I started having joint degenerati...

I'm soooo glad things are going so well for you after your surgery! Where are those Pix. I keep reading about? I would love daily updates or whatever works for you! I had a similar weak reaction as you did to the steroids, but it was when they gave me laughing gas, of all things (which I had never h...

Andantae, I've been thinking about you! I hope everything went splendidly for your surgery and that you are up and posting again soon! I am sending you little jaw-healing fairies to help knit everything together again! They did wonders for me! :D P.S. (So sorry that you will be off horseback this su...

I had upper jaw surgery about 6 weeks ago. The numbness, and more specifically the return of feeling as been VERY annoying to me. About every 3-5 days, I start getting insect -stinging sensations on some area of my face. They vary from mild (like a mosquito bite), to ones that make my hand fly up to...

Can you get propped more upright, so you don't roll onto your side? I couldn't sleep on my side until just recently (5 weeks out). I slept on our couch for 3 weeks, with a wedge pillow, but a big couch cushion would work also.

Sorry about the problems sleeping. I hope that resolves soon.

Hey! I had upper surgery. I think some of what you are experiencing may be the scar healing, and becoming tighter. I feel like I have a wet piece of yarn under my upper lip, glued in place, and pulling when I smile or laugh. I also have lots of weird stinging and itching in the upper jaw and behind ...

I had surgery a week before you. I am not in braces, but had arch bars and rubber bands for 4 weeks. They were removed 10 days ago, so no more rubber bands. At first, I was hitting only on the right side, and was really freaked out, thinking they messed up my surgery and I would need to repeat it. B...
