The brackets on the bottom teeth are all low- against or barely above the gum line. I asked about it when my ortho put them on and basically, it's because my bite won't accomodate them any other way. Until I get some teeth moved into the right place, my top teeth would knock against the brackets if ...

I have turbo stops behind my two front teeth -- prevents me from being able to knock off the lower braces with my upper teeth. Hated them at first because it was difficult to eat anything that wasn't liquified because none of my teeth really touch anymore - but somehow over the past couple of weeks...

You might need to have a tooth guard made for you by your ortho. The guard would keep your upper and lower teeth from meeting. You wouldn't be grinding your brackets or teeth that way. I had a couple of brackets that kept popping off in my first six months of treatment. Now that my teeth have moved...

Hi Crystalsicles! Welcome to the land of the braced! I'm sorry it's starting to hurt. I had the same cycle- I got mine on at about 3 pm and by 4 pm my first bracket was off. The pain started by 9 or 10 pm that night and pretty much hasn't stopped since. I had mine applied to try and correct a TMJ/bi...

I just saw your thread about the new adhesive regarding ceramics, hhangel. I go back to have my 3rd bracket re-attached on Wednesday and I can't wait to ask.

3 brackets in less than 4 days seems like way too much! Especially when I'm only eating Chef Boyardee and protein shakes.

It's my first day back at work since being braced. I work for a design college here in FL so I'm in contact with students and staff all the time. Today, someone I've known for more than a year saw my new braces and said, "I didn't realize your teeth were that crooked!". I have ceram...

The estimate you got should cover your adjustments and the supplies needed to complete the treatment plan your orthodontist set out for you.

What it won't cover is any unexpected treatments and it won't cover your usual dental work- cleanings and what not.

I bought one from dentakit.com and I'm very happy with it. http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/dentakit_1987_45945 http://dentakit.com/oralirrigators.html The QuickBreeze attaches right to your water faucet. It's removeable and small so storage isn't a problem for me. It also allows you to cont...

I would say that it's cheaping out on you. I've signed a contract for a specific type of treatment and have paid out extra bucks for my ceramic brackets. I would call it a breach of contract if my ortho changed the treatment and the apperance of my braces- especially without consulting me first. It ...

Hi Crymsyn, Congrats on getting your braces, I'm sorry that you had a rough time. I was kind of in the same situation as you. My ortho placed the majority of my brackets, my bite was so messed up beforehand. My arches were done the same day, but I got to rest my jaw in between as well. I also had a...

So sorry things went so badly at your bonding appointment. I'm sure things will improve as soon as they settle and you get used to all the extra hardware in your mouth, it took me about the first two months to get the bracket popping behind me (at that point I was getting real down about going thro...

Braced 3 hours- Bracket off

I had my braces put on today at about 1 pm. The appointment took 2 hours which was horribly painful for my TMJ. We struggled to get the brackets on my lower teeth far enough down that my bite was comfortable. My jaw is very tight and my bite is off due to the damage the TMJ has done. I don't bite co...

trw2- I have TMJD as well. I'm being braced today in an effort to help treat the problem and not just the symptoms. I've had chiropractic treatment as well as physical therapy. The PT is my favorite part, even though it can be quite painful sometimes. The massage on the overworked muscle groups help...
