Glad the pictures could help in a small way... Trust me, I know all too well what you guys are going through... It DOES get better... a lot better. I'm sure everybody is different, but my recovery was pretty tough. Search for some of my old threads...i had to be hospitalized a week after surgery for...

1 year, 3 months post-op...LeFort 3-piece upper..w/pics

I haven't posted or been on in a long time...however, I am completely done and wanted to post my results for anybody looking to have the same procedure done. I'm 36 yea...

I had a 3-piece Lefort done on Feb. 19th. Doc said he wouldn't know if he would have to do a graft until he got into the surgery. He was pretty sure he wouldn't need to, but wouldn't rule it out. It turned out that he didn't need to do the graft. Which was weird because he also said they widened my ...

I can only give the reason my doc gave me and that was: I had upper jaw surgery, 3-piece LeFort. My upper jaw was cut into 3-pieces to widen it. He said in 6-weeks it's healed enough to take the splint off, but not to bite into anything hard. He said I would risk breaking the upper jaw off where it ...

Re: Well, Tomorrow a.m. Upper Jaw Surgery!
Its finally here. I go in at 7:30 tomorrow morning. I have everything set up here at home, and lots of support coming my way. I feel very confident about everything, but am beginning to feel a little anxious. I am having arch bars put on, because I don't have braces. They are gruesome little wires ...

That is great news spartanfan72! Glad to hear you are done with the yucky splint! :yuck: How do your teeth feel after getting new wires and elastics 6 weeks post op? The elastics are no big deal. I'm so used to the ones the OS put on that damn near banded me shut, that these ones are easy. They are...

No April Fools.....Splint is OFF!!!
Today was my 6-week post-op checkup. Six weeks exactly to the day. First up was the OS at 9am. Splint came off without too much trouble, man did that thing STINK. The first time I bit down and my bottom teeth went behind my top teeth was pretty weird. I wouldn't have imagined the roof of my mouth wo...

Hi Spartanfan, thanks for your diagrams! And I'm relieved to hear that there's no gap involved between the front teeth. But there are two gaps on the side though...I wonder if they do the 3-piece Lefort just to not create a gap in the front, or if there's another (structural or functional) reason t...

Re: question for those who had 3-piece Lefort 1
Did you have a gap between your teeth after the surgery the way one would with a SARPE? From a recent thread, I think spartafan said a 3-piece Lefort was when the surgeon cut the upper palate into a Y-shape. With the palate being cut into 3 pieces with a Y-cut, if it's the anterior part of the pala...

I am scheduled for upper jaw (Le Forte I) on April 22nd. I have degeneration of the left TMJ and an open bite. I am glad to get it scheduled. But I want to know what people recommend for comfort after surgery. Also, any comfort and reassurance would be very welcome!! I had a 3-piece LeFort I done o...

Hey Spartanfan, good to hear you're having a good recovery. Do you have any before and after pics? Also, does anyone know where I can find a diagram of what a Lefort 1 3-piece looks like (where the cuts are made)? The reason I ask is I'm having the same surgery, along with BSSO, at the end of the y...
