When I had my separators put on, I ended up with headaches for about 2 days after they were put on. After that, my mouth was very sore. Another thing that was really bad for me were the molar cleats that are on the inside of my molar bands. These were just tearing up my cheeks and tongue. Fortunatel...

Do you have self-ligating brackets? If you do, no ligatures are needed. If you don't have those type of brackets, then the wire will not be held in place by anything and will be loose and slide off. I doubt that this is the case. Youm ight have self-ligating braces without even knowing it.

I, on the other hand, do have molar bands. 2 on top and 2 on the bottom. 4 total. I guess it's up to each ortho and the treatment plan he is going to use.

I also asked my dentist if the wires had to come off. They said it's not a problem to have a cleaning done while braces are on. I went in with my wires on and got a full cleaning without any problems.

Brush with a little bit of hydrogen peroxide. I've heard that works pretty good.

Wire ties are the standard for me. You gotta make sure that the ends are tucked in under your archwire or else it will scratch and cut up your lips and anyone elses who goes in there.

I have one of those Quad-helix appliances on the roof of my mouth and have gotten so used to it I hardly remember it's there. When it first went in, it felt strange and unusual. A while back it started digging into my palate, my ortho adjusted it and left in place. I really don't know the purpose of...

Usually anything behind the molar bands do not get anything put on. However, on some cases the ortho might bond a molar tube directly onto the 2nd molars, depending on the case.

Me personally, I only have bands on each of my 1st molars, nothing behind that.

My orthodontist actually put all my brackets on and cemented the molar bands in place. He then put the archwire in place. The assistant dry-fitted the bands and put the ligatures on, after the wire was in place.

It also depends on different states' regulations on what assistants can and cannot do.
