yes its normal....thats exactly what my ortho did in my case. I had to have two different sets of spacers put in because I had to have 8 molar bands in total. The last week of spacers he placed the brackets on with no wires and he said it was so that my mouth (and I) could get used to them. Hope thi...

Ok I was a little concerned that this was the end of the straightening process. Yes, I have four premolar gaps that need to be closed so maybe thats what they will be working on. Thanks jaswi

When in powerchain stage...

I am wondering if when the ortho puts on a powerchain does it mean that the straightening of the teeth is done? I have some concern because i will be getting powerchains in 2 weeks and some of my teeth have yet to completely straighten out. If someone knows the usual process please let me know...tha...

Bracket Repositioning...

I just went in today for my 6th month check up and adjustment. All that I had done was changing of my ligs but then the ortho told the assistant to take me to get x-rays. I asked her what this was for and she said that it was to find out if my roots where in their correct positions and if they weren...

Necra, Nothing to be alarmed about. I have had braces on for about three months now and I have one capped molar which they put a molar band on and it is completely fine. granted, I don't know about when they remove my braces as I have a few years to go but I believe everything will be fine. I doubt ...

Yes I also had 4 premolar extractions and have noticed that my canines have moved back a little so my gaps do not look as big. My right top canine was the real issue because as a young girl I refused to get my baby canine pulled out and the permanent one grew over it (if only I had known what I woul...

thanks lola, yeah I know theres a point of them torturing me in this manner...I guess I'm back to soft foods for a week or so. I've been braced for about the same time you have. have you seen a lot of improvement? I did with my first adjustment but now I'm either not really paying attention or there...

Oucch!!! Big Question

I went for my third adjustment today and had a new wire put in. I explained to the assitant that one of my molars was becoming really sensitive and I think I might be clenching my jaw at night without realizing it. Well the ortho came and checked my teeth and said that i needed a new wire and to wir...

it is in fact a TPA...I have one as well and it is a BIG pain in the butt! I also have a lower lingual arch which does not help at all!! you will in fact get used to it even though it doesn't seem that way. your tongue will have an imprint until it is removed. The only advice I have for improving yo...

Hi Dimplez (does this mean you have are a fellow member of the dimples club? :) ) I don't have braces yet, but I am really really really hoping that it breaks my awful habit of picking, then biting, the skin on either side of my thumb nails! Yes I have dimples and I've read a lot of stories about p...
